Yes, if you have the budget, definitely get a DOC! We got super lucky; our ceremony venue came with a coordinator, and our pastor's wife volunteered to coordinate the reception for us, so we didn't have to pay for one. (Which was great because we didn't budget for one, but with the experience I am so thankful we had one--well, two. lol)

YES! I will not have to do the seating chart or communicate with vendors the month of or flip the room among other things. We went with a venue that offered an add on service for the doc. We will be paying 600$ for month before month of and day of services.

Our DOC is included in the venue. She will handle the setup & breakdown, assist the vendors with coordination of the event.

No no no !!! Waste of money. The church is forcing me to use theres and she is USELESS (not to sound mean) but anytime I have a question her responses are basically telling me to do it myself. For example, i asked her how many pews were in the church so I would know for flower arrangements and her response was “oh idk thats a good question. You can go in the church and count them”. Instead of saying i am not sure but will get back to you. Also my wedding venue does this alllll day everydayyy and they are super on top of everything So I feel like i only hired reputable companies and thats why i dont need a wedding coordinator for the venue

So I say it depends on if you have extra cash for this add on. I have a friend doing my day of and she does day of stuff as a hobby. I had another friend tell me it was a waste of money to hire. If I had the extra cash I would have a wedding planner that includes day of. However, no extra cash here so I’m glad my friend is doing it.

I’m seriously debating this myself. I’m having a destination wedding but the venue has a coordinator already. She’s the one helping me plan my wedding but personally I feel like I should hire someone that will be there just for me and not just have the venues best interest at heart.

I would do it if I could afford it! That's for sure. But because my wedding is going to be so simple and straight cut, it's not necessary for us.

    Yes!!!!!!!

Things they do that you dont think about but will absolutely need / love :

Help move the process along, keep the schedule on your behalf so you can attend your own wedding

Communicate your needs or wants to vendors or even guests (imagine that aunt that keeps asking for pictures while you and your husband are trying to dance and have a fun experience)

    Clear trash / tidy

Resolve questions for guests so that you don't have to "fix anything "

    Yes yes yes get one

It can go both ways. DW yes close to home no. Im doing a DW and I can't be able to do face to face mettings or do small things. So that's where the coordinators (my DOC includes more than the day) the day of coordinator was the 2nd most expensive thing about ****.

I highly recommend a day/venue coordinator!!! My fiance and I did all of the major planning with help from family and friends. BUT on your day, you need someone else to take the reign so you can enjoy your day!! My venue coordinator (Events by Nova in Georgia) charge according to your wedding package. I have everything...decor setup/cleanup, buffet and bar services, etc that cost me about $2000. Largest budget items were coordinator and photography/videography but if you have less than 100 people then it would be more cost-efficient for coordinator (based on count).

Did you try shopping around? I contacted a few. Some as high as $2500 and as low as $900.

So I went to my friend's wedding last weekend and she did not have a day of coordinator. I was the one running around helping with her in her room, making sure the guys were dressed, getting her and the rest of the BP moving, making sure they had enough time to get married, getting the marriage license to the officiant, etc. I constantly had to keep asking if she needed anything else or was there something that I forgot. There is a lot happening on the day of and honestly, it would have been a lot nicer to enjoy the day with her if she had one instead of me, who came out of town just for her, her SIL, and her MOH (who only did the reception for half) running the show. Don't get me wrong, I love to help and did it willingly but putting that on family and friends is kind of a pain because 1) they either won't do it, 2) they don't really want to do it but do it anyway and may mess it up, or 3) completely won't enjoy their time because they are so worried to make sure everything goes according to plan. I have seen some DOCs run from $500 to $2500. What I am doing is having an all exclusive venue where my wedding planner is my coordinator for the day of as well. It's up to you and I hope you find someone you like if you go this route. Good luck!

I just reached out to more coordinators yesterday, and got a few lower quotes.

I recommend it if its in your budget. I personally do not have one BUT I wish I did! I am 47 days out and I am stressing the little details normally they would be in charge of. Such as making sure people walk at the times they are and keeping the event running smoothly. Each DOC offers different things. I know some of the ones I looked at offered as little as just coordinating people walking to as much as helping with decorating and extending the abilities to full on wedding planner.
