Day 1

Yesterday, I hurt my back (all I did was sit on a wooden chair, back popped 4/5 times then pain hit). My back is still hurting. But, I am going to the gym today.

Even though I'm hurting pretty bad, I've got to attempt a workout even if it's only 5 minutes.

Please listen to your body. If you’re in pain, there is no reason why you need to push through a workout. If you’re ok with a little bit of movement, maybe try going for a small walk instead and then seeing how you feel.

You really shouldn't, at least until you have your back under control. Do you have back problems normally? Have you seen a doctor or a chiropractor? I just know that back issues are not something to be taken lightly, and you don't want to do more damage by working out when your back is in a state of inflammation. Be very careful!

Please be careful Lynne! Try a heating pad, or a warm bath with epsom salt. Listen to your body, please be sure that if something hurts you stop.

My back hurts me pretty bad most days but I recently tried this Mat called Acupressure mat, basically mimicking acupuncture but no needles. It worked wonders, took my pain away almost completely. Its definitely worth buying if the pain persists. I got mine off amazon.

As someone who has herniated discs and has had surgery due to it, please dont work out until you get checked and cleared by a doctor. Back issues are no joke. I have permanent damage in the nerves of my left leg and foot due to my injury. Even walking can extend the damage further. Please, please, be careful. Once you throw your back out, it's easy to do again and again and the damage gets worse until you wind up not being able to walk or stand for more that 10 minutes without pain. Please be careful and get checked out!

Yes, these are the kinds of things I was thinking of. My story isn't quite this bad, but I herniated a disc years ago, and while the docs didn't feel like I needed surgery, it was a long, slow, painful process to get back to "normal" and pain free.

Just be very careful, and listen to whatever the doctors tell you.

Oh I listened to my docs! I went to the chiro a lot, did stretches and strength therapy at home. After about 3 years I pulled it again, and it was so bad I couldnt walk. MRI later, and the orthopedic said he couldnt believe i was still attempting to work. That was a Thursday. I was in surgery the following Tuesday. Such a relief. But I do have damage in my toes and leg, mostly numbness in certain areas so not too bad. Still do my stretches and strength training per my PT, and see the chiro when I need it. And I listen to my body, if I'm stiff or sore, I slow down and take it easy for a few days. Surgery was almost 3 years ago and I've been doing good! I hope you are well, and continue to do well!!
