David’s bridal

Lydia, on July 5, 2020 at 9:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25
I’m thinking about going with David’s bridal because I need the dress to be affordable. Can anyone tell me how it is? How to expect at the appointment and my main question is do they jack up the prices from online? There are lots of options I like under $500 on the website but will there be that many in my price range in store?

I am sure they price match but call in advance and ask. I have had good experiences with DB and I am sure if they want the sale they will make it work. Just be sure what you see online they have in the store as I have made that mistake.

Hey had a Terrible experience with David’s Bridal. Their instore selection wasn’t even close to their online collection. The 2 dresses they did have the same we’re not the same price.
My consultant was helping me and someone else. They did not make dress suggestions or help with anything.
Now, I know some people have had a great experience with them. Based on my experience I would never consider them in the future for anything. I will suggest going in with an open mind to styles and don’t set your expectations too high for the consultants. Many other bridal shops have sales and sell dresses off the rack. I bought my dress off the rack. It was a $1600 I got for $800.

I loved my experience for the most part. They were nice, my dress was beautiful, prices the same except they had a sale going on so it was less, and my alterations went great. I was happy with the preservation after the wedding. The one thing that really made me angry was my dress came in a month early and they didn’t call or email me so it sat there on the rack til I called to check on it. My mom picked it up for me since I was out of state and the ticket said it had arrived a month earlier. They told me the email must have gone to spam but i checked my spam and it just wasn’t true. But other than that I was happy.

David's service is awful when shopping, and their alterations overpriced, at the 2 within driving distance of us. Have you tried

Asazie will send dresses to try on. I have been with one person to measure her, and help her try on dresses at home. The dresses were inexpensive, but materials better than David's in low end. I am more familiar with their bridesmaid gowns which are well made, comparable to salon dresses in same price ranges. Everyone I know who has used them for BM dresses has praised them, including me. Their wedding dresses all have simple lines and structure. those, they do well. They have always kept to promised timelines, and what you order is what you get.

I had a good experience at David's Bridal. The consultant makes a big difference. My consultant was great, asked some questions to get to know me and my vision for the wedding. They had a decent plus size selection which I needed. I was torn between 2 dresses and they never pressured me to make a decision on the spot. The dresses were the same prices online. They said my dress would take 5 months to come in but I received an email about a month later saying that it was in and I had 7 days to pick it up.

I only have 2 minor negative issues. one is that they didn't pull different styles for me to try on just went with what I said I liked. The second is their alterations seems a little pricey. Granted I haven't shopped around and don't know what how much they normally cost in my area but it was higher than I expected.

I would also add that most of the dresses looked better in person than on the website so be open minded when you go.

I would go to try on dresses to get an idea of what you like, but consider other options. I eventually ordered from Cocomelody. From my experience DB did not have the dresses in Store that I wanted to try. The experience of trying on dresses was so-so.

I've had mixed experiences with David's Bridal. As my sister's maid of honor a few years ago, it was a great experience. The dress was great quality, fit well, alterations were done well and on time, etc. I was also a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding a few years ago as well, and had the same positive experience with them for my dress for that wedding too. My sister and my friend both got their wedding dresses at David's Bridal, and they seemed to have great experiences. I do know they have their dress sales frequently, and at really good prices.

As a bride, my experience with David's Bridal was awful, though it was mainly the consultant that caused the bad review from me. My consultant was working with two brides at the same time, and she stopped by briefly maybe 3 times to drop off more dresses (but never to ask what I thought of the other ones or to help clip them in the back). I was not allowed to go pull dresses for myself. I saw a dress I liked on their website, but they did not carry it in store, so I couldn't try it on. I also wasn't impressed with any of their dresses that I tried on.
So overall, if you visit their store on a weekend, it's likely that your consultant will be working with two brides at once. If that is a concern for you, try to schedule an appointment during the week. I also recommend having a list of dresses or general styles ahead of time that you can tell your consultant that you'd like to try on to help save time. Their prices seemed to be decent, especially if you catch one of their sales. I'm not sure if their online pricing is different than their in-store pricing, you may want to watch out for that when you go to their store. If their online price is cheaper, ask them to price match, or buy it online.
Good luck and have fun dress shopping!!

What I did was try on different styles I liked in store to get a feel of the sizes with the different styles and then ordered online to get the best deals lol

Many things. You can get great deals, but you also have to realize they are NOT a boutique. They are a major chain and thus are really there to make their sales. Going into an appointment, you have to have the mindset that the consultant will probably be sales focused. I went to three different David's Bridal - there are three near me - before buying my original gown at the one nearest to us. If you're lucky enough to have options, look at the google reviews. It will DEFINITELY vary by location. Also avoid weekends if you can.

I went to my first one with a consultant who was extremely sales focused. She was doing her best to make her sale, and the whole energy was very rushed and very chaotic. I was her only client at an early morning weekday appointment, and she kept wondering off and forcing me to zip myself into dresses in the pre covid era. It was overwhelming, and she kept being pushy about it. Asking my opinion, what I needed to change in the dress, why I hated it or what i loved. It was clear all she cared about was me buying something, so I bought nothing. Unfortunately I get the impression this is a majority of their consultants.

My second one was at a newer, remodeled store, and it was night and day. Beautiful layout, beautiful dresses. I used a different email to get a reset - that's the other thing. Once you've had your initial appointment in their system, you can't do anything but hour block "bridal come backs" versus the hour and a half initial appointment. Which means if you, like I did, get a bad consultant then you're just out of luck. Anyway, they helped me narrow down what looked good on me but ultimately didn't have the dress I liked to try on. I still wish I had just ordered it with them.
Third location is where I bought my first dress, exchanged for my second dress after my weight loss, got my alterations done, then bought my elopement dress. I would rate them a solid C. The buying experience itself can be magical. They will try to get you into the expensive designer dresses, but stick to what you want. And honestly, in this covid world, they will have you mostly put the dress on and then zip you up. That's how I bought my elopement dress, which was 500 dollars and actually really nice quality for that price.

Alterations were a nightmare. The lady ended up implying that I had somehow gained so much weight in two weeks that the dress wouldn't zip, and the work itself was sloppy. I'm taking my elopement dress to a more local seamstress if Covid doesn't prevent that.
So all in all, just go in knowing what you're getting. I went in for an elopement dress and was treated like a lesser client, all because they expected I probably wouldn't buy another designer gown. Joke was on them - I more than have the means but was denied a lot of my choices. She also mis sized me and caused me to feel awful while she was rapidly trying to realize that i was right when i said what size i was. Just...some of the consultants try. They mean well. But they're still a business and one of the best ways of finding plus size dresses. Good luck!

I’ll be honest I did not have a great experience with David’s - at least for bridesmaid dresses. We had two appointments set up for a Saturday afternoon, one with David’s and one with a smaller boutique and there was just a night and day difference between the two. The consultant was just not helpful, and was not knowledgeable about different colors and fabrics of the dresses at all. I have mixed feelings because I do know some other brides that had a good experience there. I think it really depends on your store.

Have you ever thought about JJs house? Some of their dresses are very cheap looking, but other wedding dresses look really good As long as you get them altered. Even if you find the base silhouette of what you like on JJs house for less than 200, you could take it to a seamstress and they can add on $300 or so of work alterations and beading. It may be worth a look.

I had an excellent experience with David's Bridal. My consultant was amazing. She listened to me when I told her what I liked and didn't like, only pulled dresses in my budget (under $500), pulled several styles, never pressured me for the sale, and above all she was very caring and compassionate and made ne feel very comfortable. I typically hate shopping in general but I hate shopping for clothes even more ago I was ready to leave before I even went in. She made the experience a great one for me. I was the only person she was working with. Made several trips to pull more dresses for ne. I think i tried on 10. When i thought i made a decision she put me back in my dress (the third one I tried on) and helped me get an idea for accessories without being pushy. My dress came in a month early, they called me right away. When i went in to pick out up my consultant was there again and helped me try it on again. She was excellent and helped make my experience there perfect.

I did...they’re 100% legit! They have real reviews on their site, pictures from real brides, etc.

The level of service I received and from what I read and hear from other’s is outstanding. They have a Facebook group where people chime in on their purchases and experiences if you’re interested.

I had a wonderful experience with David's, but it does all depend on your store and your consultant. I went in with a list of dresses I liked, and she pulled some of her suggestions as well (similar to ones I liked). I narrowed it down to two and she put me back in them again, and I knew which was the one.

I have always had good experiences with David’s. I’ve purchased multiple bridesmaids dresses there as well as dresses for semi-formal events.
My dress originally was $1250 but during a sale was down to $500. I agree to make sure it is in store as well as online. They do warn you that the in store selection is not the same.
And while my consultant was helping me and another bride, I never felt like I was being ignored or pressured. My dress came in fast and they called me when it arrived. I’ve already scheduled my alterations appointment for September. I can’t wait to try it on again.

    Hi there!

TLSmiley laughR One location was awful, went to another location and was amazing and found the one! Just depends on who helps you! Also look for sales in store.

So I am on both sides for DB. I had one appointment that went awful, and 2 that went great! The first one that did not go well was a month after we had gotten engaged and at that point we were planning on having our wedding in less than 6 months so I was panicking about finding my dress in time. (I have awful anxiety!!) My consultant was kind, but very pushy about getting a sale and was not helpful in trying to find something in budget or my style, so when I finally found a dress that didn't make me immediately hate myself I just went for it. After a week I regretted it and we had pushed our date out until the next fall so I went back and returned it. Thankfully they gave me a full refund, but I was glad to get out of that situation as they were constantly trying to up-sell instead of help. Fast forward 6 months and I hadn't found my dream dress online and was again panicking lol. I decided to go back to DB but this time at a different location and bringing my cousin (bridesmaid) with me. It was like night and day with this store!! I had an amazing consultant who was very patient, kind and helpful with me even though she was very busy and the appointment before mine went too long. I had found a few online that I liked and she grabbed them for me to try but I didn't like how any of them looked on me, they were all right above budget so it was going to be a stretch, and was going to leave and just keep looking online (I had one on JJsHouse I liked but I am SUPER visual and can't decide without trying it on) but then she said let me find this one i think you'll like and it was THE ONE!! It was so perfect and not only was it in budget, it was also on sale PLUS I got a discount for making an appointment! The next appointment was for alterations and I had an amazing lady who was very helpful and helped me get over my most self conscious worry about the dress. Plus I was able to return a veil I had bought that I decided I didn't want and put that money towards my alterations! So I honestly believe it just depends on who you get to help you! Good luck!
