David's Bridal Vent Booo :(

~*Mrs.J*~, on January 29, 2012 at 2:47 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

So I picked out my bm's dresses from davids, and we had to order them early because they were on sale and going off the rack. So we ordered them just over a week ago, and they told us they would be here in March. Well my friend (who just had twins less than a month ago) got a rude call from a sales rep at our local store saying if she did not pick the dress up by Friday, they were placing it back in inventory. Now IN MY OPINION, they should not rush us and be rude about pick up, when they gave us a an estimated time of arrival, and THEY were wrong. I just felt bad for my bm because she called all worried and asked if I could pick the dress up for her since she does not get out much yet with the twins. grrr I know its silly, but that is poor customer service in my mind.

I ordered my bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding (in September) two weeks ago as well (on the 15th). We were also quoted that would come in in March. I got the call on Friday saying that it was in and that they wanted me to pick it up "this weekend." I live about 300 miles away from the store that I ordered it from, however my FSIL was planning on picking it up for me when it came in anyway. They did offer to ship it to me at no additional cost though as well. They definitely shouldn't have been so rude about it to your BM though. That is indeed poor customer service.

They always over estimate time - I bought my wedding dress the last week of January and was told it would be in sometime in May (had to be special ordered), and when I went in early March to make sure everything was on schedule, the dress had already been in for two weeks.

I ordered my dress from DB on December 4th and they told me it would be in by Feb 15th. I got a call a week and a half later saying that it was in. Same thing with all my BMs - they were told their dresses would take about 8 weeks but they all came in within 3 weeks of ordering. I know that part of DB's policy is that they will only hold dresses for 14 days. In fact, they made me sign something when I ordered my dress acknowledging that I needed to pick it up within 14 days of it coming in. I definitely don't think it's OK that they were rude to your BM about it but I can understand why they need people to pick up their dresses within a certain timeframe. With as quickly as their dresses arrive, they probably get a lot of people taking their time picking them up.

I think mine girls dresses were the only ones that took about the full 8 weeks. I've gotten an email every time a dress has come in. I'm waiting one one more dress. They were discontinuing the color and all the dresses had to be ordered by December 4th.

My bridesmaids were told that their dresses would take 8 weeks to come in, but they both came in about 2 weeks. I didn't have that negative experience with them but I would talk to a manager in your case.

Yes, they do want you to pick everything up very soon. Mine all came in early too. Davids bridal told me anyone can pick up anything. So see if another one of your bridesmaids can go pick up her dress.

My consultant told me that she overestimates arrival dates to help girls in their planning. She also informed me that sometimes when your order your information goes in a cue and blah blah blah. So i guess the overestimations are just to make sure there are less of those 'it didnt come in intime' horror stories, or ' they didnt have it a week before the event' Lol

They tell you that so if there is any issues with shipping it wont be a big deal David's only takes up to a month to get BM dresses in...but that was Very rude and i would call and talk to someone about that since they are supposed to call and tell you when its in and you only have so long to pick the dress up

I would be so pissed of if they called me or 1 of my BM's & were rude like that!!!

1st of all, they told you March, I dont care that its their policy to be picked up within 14 days of coming in, then they shouldnt tell you March!! If they told you March, then personally I think you have until March to pick up your dress & they need to keep it!!! I also understand they over estimate on shipping, & I guess its better then getting the dress later then promised, but they should not call & be so rude!!! I would call the Headquarters of DB & yell at them!! Hey, want me to do it?? I am a pro now at yelling at everyone at headquarters LOL People at work enjoy me on the phone, they listen now to all my conversations LOL ...

but anyway, seriously, call & complaint big time!! thats rude & I think you should have until March to pick it up if thats when they quote you.. what if you are traveling?? what if you dont live near the store & live 500 miles away & wont be there until March?? GOod Luck

Yeah, it just bothered me that they were like that on the first call to her. It was not like they had been calling for a week or something. I could understand if she had been contacted a number of times, but that was not the case. My BM does not need the extra stress on top of dealing with twin baby girls Smiley smile Here are here girls Smiley smile How could you be rude to someone like this! These are the hats I bought them for christmas!

I had a similar experiance with a head piece that I had ordered. They told me a time frame of when it would be in, I had not heard from them that it was in, so I called, they told me that it had been in store for almost 2 weeks!!! I had heard NOTHING from them. Funny thing is, like 3 days after I called them to check on my order, a very nice young lady called and left a message on my phone stating that they had just recieved the head piece that I had ordered and that they could hold it for me for up to 5 days!
