Davids Bridal disaster.. I broke down in tears

Yesterday was supposed to be a fun day trying on dresses but I had a melt down in Davids Bridal. I've gained 60 lbs the last 2 years and I didn't realize how much different I looked until I got in front of a huge mirror in an ivory dress. The girl from DB was giving me dresses too small to try on so I freaked out. I couldn't even get them on to step out of the dressing room to get an idea. When i finally had enough champagne to calm down I found a dress I'm ok with but ordered it a size smaller and will add a corset in the back (I'm busting my ass at the gym for the next 5 months). It's not what I had envisioned at all but I have to feel comfortable. I don't like the neckline so they are going to alter it to a sweetheart neckline. I'm worried that alterations will somehow jack up my dress. What do you all think? I have a pic with a sash and no sash. Added bonus is that I found a flower girl dress that matches my dress exactly only with spaghetti straps added.

You look beautiful in the dress, but this is an emotional time, so I understand the heightened feelings in the dress shop. I am so glad you found such a gorgeous dress that you will look fabulous in!!

You look stunning! Yes for sure on the sash but get a blingy sash, it really helps define the waist. Just so you know, you can have the sash sewn to the dress if you don't want a bow in the back.

I love the sash. I'm going through the same problem. I gained a lot of weight the past 2 years. But I'm starting to eat right and exercise fun (Zumba). You can do it to! But please don't kill yourself over it. You are a beautiful woman and the dress is lovely!

You and your dress both look lovely! But I know exactly how you feel -- it makes me so sad to think of how tiny I was when FH and I first started dating, and I didn't even realize it then. Dress shopping was definitely a stressful and demoralizing experience for me, and none of my bridesmaids understood what I meant when I said that it was so emotionally draining. But we are our own worst critics, and you can't be too hard on yourself -- you really do look great in that dress.

I like this dress!! It screams wedding. I like it with the sash best. I actually like the current neckline because you get cleavage but not too much, but I bet a sweetheart could work too.

As for the weight gain, I feel ya. I gained weight in grad school too, and I gained weight after the proposal too. I went dress shopping at the highest weight of my life, and it was hard for me—especially because people kept commenting on my body and asking if I were going to lose weight for the wedding :/ You do look beautiful though. Don't be so hard on yourself!

You look beautiful. I tried on that same dress and almost bought it. If the dress I have now didn't work that would have been my dress.

I like it with the sash! You look beautiful, and I can definitely relate. I have gained like 60 pounds since I began dating my FH and I hated how I looked in DB dresses. The consultant I worked with was sweet as pie but she couldn't find a dress that complimented my shape. Ended up going to a plus side bridal salon and found my dress there. I spent a lot more than my original budget but I feel like with the dress I bought I wouldn't even have to lose a pound. And in the DB dresses I felt like I had to lose 50+ lbs to feel beautiful.
