David's Bridal 99 dollar sale only annual? Panicking a bit....

So the part of my wedding I am most stressed about is getting my dress. Nothing else is stressing me like this dang dress issue. We are aiming for a late Feb 2019 wedding. So the part of my wedding I am most stressed about is getting my dress. Nothing else is stressing me like this dang dress issue. We are aiming for a late Feb 2019 wedding.

I was absolutely counting on catching the David's bridal 99 dollar sale at some point to have a wider selection in my budget because I pretty much can't afford anywhere else where I live. Even the consignment dress shop starts at 800. The sale going on now is just too early for me sadly. I just read on another forum it's *only* an annual sale and my heart dropped into my stomach.

Is this true? I've really struggled with the many online options and ultimately I really want to be able to go into a store for my anxiety's sake. I want buying a dress to be a positive, wonderful experience and not have my stomach in knots wondering what will arrive in the mail. I'm now more anxious and miserable about the whole ordeal.

Is anyone a David's Bridal expert on their sale cycles? I was hope to dress shop between mid-March and mid-May. I don't think I can risk much later...

I went when there wasn’t the $99 sale. My dress was originally $599 on sale for $450. My husband is a veteran so I got an extra 10% off which brought it down to $405. So there are affordable options. I didn’t have to have it altered either so that saved me a lot.

I don’t want to be the person that gives bad advice because planning ahead is always better but for what it’s worth my dress from David’s bridal came in within 2.5 weeks, I then ended up changing my mind and ordering a different dress and that cake within about two weeks as well so they come in A LOT quicker than they say. I almost wished I had waited longer to get mine to be honest. They also have some great affordable options in the under 500 range which was my original budget. Good luck dress shopping and have fun!!

I just picked up my dress from DB that was originally$499 and I got it on sale for $449. They told me it would be here in April. I got it less than 30 days after I ordered it.

I don't understand not affording anything around you. Where do you live? Etsy has a billion dresses. Vintage is always another great inexpensive option. A seamstress can make a dress to fit without expensive alterations needed and are very inexpensive.

My wedding is April 7th. Went to DB's 3 weeks ago and got a dress for $499. Dress should be here by February early March I was told. They have that sale more than once a year. Also try BHLDN website, lots of options under $600.

I was trying to explain that it isn't that there are no options, but that my own anxiety is playing a role in how I want to approach dress shopping. I personally want to avoid online ordered without a try on. This is to an extent (a fairly large extent) a situation of my own making and I am admitting that Smiley smile

There ARE amazing options online. My brain is just giving me a very hard time in pursuing them for reasons I don't need to bore everyone with.

But it sounds like DB will still be an option even when the 99 dollar sale isn't on and that I was potentially very mistaken about a dress *always* taking six months!

This community is amazing thanks for all those who shared their experiences to help me realize I was making some hard and fast assumptions and about timing!

If I were you I would keep a watch on the dresses you've been looking at a lot because they have various sales throughout the year, and I have seen that a lot of the dresses I like are similarly priced during other sales they have going on (not just during that semi annual 99/499 dollar sale). I know a lot of people say to order dresses 6-8 months in advance but I'm pretty sure being such a big, national chain David's Bridal has a much faster turnover rate. We went in late spring for my sister's September wedding and the dress had to be sent to a different state than it was purchased, and she received it very quickly. Also mention this concern to them right away so they don't sell you a dress that might take too long to get there for whatever reason.

I went to the sale yesterday and like other people are saying the $99 dresses are very slim pickings. I ended up falling in love with a dress for $500 and we got it even though I’m over a year out from my wedding.

To help with anxiety I recommend not bringing a lot of people. Only my mom and I went and that’s was perfect! Less opinions the better!

I actually ended up going yesterday when I saw the sale was extended (made the appointment on Friday). You were right. They had one $99 dress in my size and I didn't care for it!

I ended up falling in love with a 499 dress, applied a 50 dollars coupon and left much happier than if I forced myself to stick to the minimal price. Yes I could have gotten a cheaper dress online but for me seeing myself in the mirror in the dress went a loooong way to making me comfortable with the purchase.

I'm about a year out too and I only brought one person Smiley smile

Why do you think it's too early to shop now? If you're getting married in a year, it's not too early to start looking. I'd check out the sale now, and then you can decide if DB has something you like, or if you need to keep looking and save more to get something elsewhere.

So I ended up going after all. I had made that too early notion up in my head mostly. I guess I had some idea if when it usually happens and latched onto that. I realized jumping on a sale and being more comfortable with the price obviously trumped any sort of expected timeline.

I actually have my dress now and gave an update in my last post. I was very much just being overly anxious!

Looked on Google because dress I want is on clearance rack and is $700 But I know on $99 sale it will drop dramatically and they have a lot of them. But last year they did a second in like August so look through summer and also sign up for notifications. I'm on hold for that sale once it happens first day I'm back at David's bridal try on that dress again and if I still love it as much as I did I will buy it
