David's Bridal 99 dollar sale only annual? Panicking a bit....

Amy, on January 20, 2018 at 6:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

So the part of my wedding I am most stressed about is getting my dress. Nothing else is stressing me like this dang dress issue. We are aiming for a late Feb 2019 wedding.

I was absolutely counting on catching the David's bridal 99 dollar sale at some point to have a wider selection in my budget because I pretty much can't afford anywhere else where I live. Even the consignment dress shop starts at 800. The sale going on now is just too early for me sadly. I just read on another forum it's *only* an annual sale and my heart dropped into my stomach.

Is this true? I've really struggled with the many online options and ultimately I really want to be able to go into a store for my anxiety's sake. I want buying a dress to be a positive, wonderful experience and not have my stomach in knots wondering what will arrive in the mail. I'm now more anxious and miserable about the whole ordeal.

Is anyone a David's Bridal expert on their sale cycles? I was hope to dress shop between mid-March and mid-May. I don't think I can risk much later...

I'm in the same boat! Can't afford anything around me but David's and my wedding is in December! I just found this link though, hope it helps!

I don't think that's true.. I am pretty sure they have that sale 2 times a year. And they have online sales as well . If for some reason you aren't able to find the dress you are looking for and if you don't mind preowned dresses, you can always try preownedweddingdress.com . They have dresses in different price ranges and some really nice ones for as low as 200 dollars. Just an option.

I'm not that sure. I'm almost positive, though, that it was going on when I bought my dress last July.

Haha thanks, but oh man, the first post said "I would suggest not planning on finding a dress at that sale. It's the remnants of the remnants .... the worst of the worst. "

What a terribly blunt and brutal way of phrasing it!

I'm wondering if maybe I should just stay away from wedding dress threads for a bit? Might be messing with my brain. I used to be laid back about it, it's a dress you wear once! Then I started looking at them and suddenly I was all stressed about not affording the exact gorgeous dress I might want.

Thanks! I have zero issue with my preowned dress! I'm just wary of ordering something online. I'm anxious and sometimes I have to work with my anxiety- in this case that means going to a store and not hands wringing about all the things that could go wrong with ordering online.

This gives me hope! I wonder how long they usually run for?

I was reading a bunch of online articles because I'm interested in a lot of the dresses they mark down to 499 at that time. I'm pretty sure they also have the sale in June!

I'm thrilled they have it more than once a year but I might still not be able to wait that long. Is that a bit late for a feb wedding? I've been told to expect a solid 6 months for the dress which would mean holiday season might impact that and then I would be in trouble!

I've definitely seen it more than once a year. Maybe it's an annual *winter* sale?

    Thanks for your input!

I'm definitely realizing I'm a planner and I hate leaving things up to chance, so I wish they posted a sale schedule- though I fully realize that is not a thing that happens except with some well-known annual sales.

You could perhaps ask someone at David's Bridal how often they have sales, I am sure someine will tell you how often they occur. They probably have sales like most stores do around the big holidays, 4th of July, Black Friday etc.

Lol, sometimes we are so caught up in the planning process that we overlook obvious answers, I've been the same way at times.

No but that place sounds amazing!!!! I'm so happy it exists.

I was sad my local wedding consignment shop wasn't more like this- I read that in reviews that the place here starts at about 800 and then goes up, which doesn't seem to help as much as some people may need.

Amy, I was told that you’d take that exact dress home the same day. No need to wait for shipping!

It’s definitely not an annual sale, because I went to one in October I think. The thing is—it’s only what they have in stock, and at least in the David’s I went to, there was only one or two in my size. I was so disappointed because I saw so many online that I liked. That being said, they do have some other affordable options, depending on what you want. I told the consultant less than $500 and I found 3 good options. (Then went to a different store and spent $1,500...ugh! I fell for it hook, line, and sinker!)

Ah, thats a good point. I wonder if it would still be affordable to purchase one much cheaper that's close enough and have it altered elsewhere...
