Date Nights!

Kelly, on February 14, 2023 at 8:36 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14

What is your favorite or go to date activity? My fiance and I love getting dressed up and going out to eat. We had "Valentine's" dinner on Saturday at our go to date restaurant.

My husband and I love cooking dinner together with a beverage, and then watching our favorite shows together after dinner and/or playing board games. For special occasions/holidays (such as Valentine's Day), we usually dress up a little and go out to dinner.

My husband and I are very low key day to day. We like going out but for Valentine’s this year we decided it would be too packed to go out so we got Chinese takeout and we’re watching a movie at home. We’re planning on going out for dinner this weekend

We like going to see live shows. We have really great theater and symphony performances in town, so it’s always fun to dress up, do a show, and then dinner or drinks after.

Concerts are our favorite! We also enjoy going to plays, bowling, local activities, or just out to a pub for some cocktails (especially if it’s a trivia night of a subject we’re into). We’ll do dinner & a movie now and then also.

For a special date night? I think my partner and I like an evening event at the botanical garden or art museum. Usually this involves lots of walking so we're city casual. Idk art, plants, curiosity, cocktails, and the outdoors make it sexy. LOL. Then we do a relaxed take-out of jerk chicken or tacos.

Our favorite dates are definitely when we can go kayaking! We pack food and picnic on the river. It’s pretty low key but we love it!

Our favorite dates are always dinner dates. My fiancé has brought me out of my picky eater shell and we like to try new restaurants together. Other than that, I would say movies are number two and staying home to watch our favorite tv shows is a close third. Nothing too fancy because that’s just who we are as a couple.

Fun! Any particular type of show you prefer? I like Shakespeare and philharmonics/symphony orchestras.

We have so many diverse interests but our favorite dates are dinners out. It could be dinner at our favorite "dive restaurant", where we had our first date! It's a very old place, famous for its hot dogs, but all the food is absolutely delicious! Our first date was a trip into Brooklyn, NY to a museum, then a model railroad show not far from our home, then dinner. It was 40 years ago but I remember the date well, and what I ate: Manhattan clam chowder, creamy cucumber salad we shared, shrimp and eggplant parmigiana, birch beer. He had a real beer, lol, one of the famous hot dogs, and chopped steak with French fries. We have recreated this date, except for the museum which is no longer, almost every year since. And, for our special wedding anniversaries, we'd go back to the very elegant (and expensive) restaurant where we had our wedding dinner, until it closed last year. Smiley sad But there are a number of favorite restaurants hereabouts, mostly Italian, we enjoy, where we order foods we normally don't have at home, which for me is lamb, veal and fish, and for him - meat-filled ravioli, filet mignon and asparagus. And on good weather days, we take a road trip, either "up the country" for either a picnic lunch or a supper at friendly pub. Or "down the shore" in the off-season for fresh seafood dinners and walks or drives along the beach. And for many years, we'd go into the city for a Broadway show, often on one of our birthdays, or to Radio City Music Hall for the Christmas show and a look at the Rockefeller Center Tree.

We change it up each time we cook for a date night! Sometimes steak and potatoes, sometimes chicken and vegetables, other times something totally different. We purchase a box of fresh fruits and vegetables every other week from a local farm, so a lot of what we cook on date nights depends on what we got that week in our box. As for beverages, my husband usually picks that out for both of us. He pairs whatever he thinks will go best with dinner.
