Just had to share this. Have a girl I know who has a wedding date (less then 4 days after getting engaged) but no venue? How is that even possible..?

Funny thing is that me and FH husband had a date with no venue when we got engage. We are still getting married on our original date. So it is possible to have a date without a venue but you also have to be very realistic about your date.

Why is this a issue? I'm sure there's TONS of places that she could get married. She has a date that she wants so all she has to do is find somewhere accommodating. It's not rocket science

We picked our date and then found a venue. If you pick your date far enough out (ours was a year and a half), you won't have much of a problem finding a venue. He said he'd marry me in a shoebox as long as we had our day.

In the real world, that's not possible. In the dizzying world of wedding euphoria, it's very real. They have a date with some personal significance, and they'll search for a venue that will give them what they're looking for, when they're looking for it, and at a price they can pay.

Once they walk the wedding highway, they'll loosen their standards if they have to (and as long as that doesn't include potluck, self-catered, or cash bar, it will be fine), lol.

I had a date before I had a venue so it's possible. So like @FMP if we didn't find a venue that worked then city park, backyard, the middle of the highway it would've been.

I had a date, booked and everything until I was reading through my venue paperwork and realized that if I moved it to Feb they'd take $1500 off the price! Called them instantly and changed it.

Sure, sometimes couples get lucky and the date matches the venue, budget, and vision, but until you have the venue and the caterer booked, you don't have a wedding date. That's just fact.

Victoria that's why we went with a Sunday instead of a Saturday! It was $1500 cheaper! We went in with a month in mind but no specific date. We're just thrilled to get married!

I picked my date before the venue. The date has special meaning. I kept looking until I found a venue with my date. It's possible if she's willing to put in the work to find a venue.

My day was set before finding a venue...Heck, it was set before we told anyone we were getting married.

It's entirely possible to have a date with no venue if you couldn't care less where the wedding would be...

I believe she means that it's more of a date that she wants, nothing confirmed. I'm pretty sure every one of us had chosen a month/week (maybe exact day) range BEFORE we went to look at venues.

We have a date but no venue. Our date is very special to us. If we can't find a venue my grandmother already offered her house and huge yard. There isn't anything wrong with having a date set in mind. That was the number one question we were asked after being engaged. If the date changes, then it changes.

We had our date picked before we found our venue, and found a venue we absolutely love that was open on our date. It's definitely doable.

I had our date picked out before we had a venue. It was easy for us, I chose a date and then emailed the pastor of my church and asked to if I could have my wedding there on that date. The church only has maybe one wedding there per year so it was a safe bet that they would have that date open and they did.
