Dark colors in August

Lisa, on June 7, 2019 at 12:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hey Brides!!

We are planning a wedding for late aug 2020 on the beach. My all time favorite color is Burgundy (like red wine) I was always a given that for my wedding my bridesmaids would wear that color. Now here we are, at a AUG wedding. I don't think a dark color really goes with a summer beach, outside, waterfront wedding in southern California. I was thinking of making the bridesmaids do a Champagne and or gold with dark flowers. and use the dark as an accent color rather than a focus color. Has anyone come across having a color that doesn't go with vibe or timing of your wedding?

thank you!!!

Burgundy is definitely not a super beachy summer color but your idea of using it as an accent is nice. Maybe even a sash or something burgundy?

I had the same problem. I wanted burgundy dresses but I’m having an August wedding. I decided to go with a lighter color that is still similar to burgundy but a bit more summery. The dresses were from Davids Bridal and the color is Chianti! See if you like that color.

You only get your ONE day and if you love the color you love the color. I’m getting married this August, the girls will be in burgundy, the ring bearers ties and suspenders, some in my flowers and centerpieces, and the napkins. We kept it to pops of color and everything else is the light blushes and gold.
There is 1032 different shades of burgundy you could definitely find a lighter version to fit your beach and the color you love.

I'm doing burgundy, blush, and gold for my August wedding. We had to move the date and I didn't want to change my colors even though we are having a summer wedding now.

Burgundy would be an incredible accent color! As stated above, you only get one wedding. I think burgundy/gold would go beautifully on white/tan sand!

Heyyyy 👋🏽👋🏽 August wedding twin 🙌🏾🙌🏾 Lol so I 100% think you should go with the wedding colors of your choice , whether it’s outside , inside , or outer space lol my point is you get ONE day and this your day to do it YOUR way ya know. I personally love darker colors because I feel as if they look good on and with anything . I’m doing a traditional black /ivory/ gold colors for my wedding . I don’t think it would hurt anyone to be in darker colors for your outside wedding . The ceremony won’t be that long so no one should have that big of an issue. REMEMBER this is you and your FH day, so do things how you guys want them.

Also don’t be afraid to stand out! I think sometimes the best things done are the ones that are different from what others choose. But I totally relate to you all the way. Our colors are going to be very different from the rustic farm venue theme, but I decided I wanted to do something that would be different from what I’ve seen done from other weddings that have taken place at the venue we’ve chosen. I think whatever you decide to choose it will be gorgeous . So just do what you want and don’t let others influence you differently.
