Hello lovely ladies,

For anyone moving forward with a summer/fall medium-sized wedding, what are your plans for entertainment? We're thinking we will likely have to cap our guest list at 50 come October, but there may still be social distancing measures in place - not a very fun environment to dance in. Fifty is still way too many people to have a "dinner-party" type wedding, with only food and conversation - how have your entertainment plans changed?

So far we have liked these ideas:
Renting arcade games
DIY flower bar
Live painter
Caricaturist

Acrobats/aerial dancers

Artisan (the example we saw was cigar roller, which is prohibited at our venue, but maybe there are some other neat ideas)

I'd love to view this as an opportunity to work outside of the box and have unusual entertainment.

Some other ideas we saw but didn't care for were:
Carousel/fairground rentals

Fire dancers/breathers

Magician

Comedian

Barista/Latte artist

Animal visit (pony/llama/etc)

Lawn games

What creative ideas have you seen?

Those sound like fun! We don't have any green space at our venue, so we won't be doing any lawn games. This isn't a game per se, but you could also have bubble wands for the kids, since you're outside anyway. Plus, who doesn't like bubbles?

We won’t have a lot of kids at our wedding but that is an ADORABLE idea!! No matter what on our big days our friends and family will be so happy to see each other that the combination of company, food and booze will lead to a good time no matter what Smiley winking

Im thinking we'll keep the DJ for now, even if we were to add games people would probably be within 6 ft from each other. My fiance and I already had covid as has many of his coworkers and some family, so maybe dancing for those with antibodies? Idk I'm in Dec so by then either things will have resolved or gotten bad again, so we'll wait and see once it gets closer how things are going

I'm glad to hear you're all ok! If you're immune, temporarily if not long-term, I would think you'd all be fine without social distancing.

Yea but also how can I tell the people that don’t have antibodies that they all have to take a seat idk it’s so confusing. Hopefully there will be more solutions by then.

I can't imagine not dancing at my wedding. That's what I am most looking forward to - is dancing and everyone having fun. My family isn't big on games anyways. I refuse to have a social distancing/ mask wearing wedding. We will be getting legally married on our original date June 20, 2020 which is s special date to me, and we will have our wedding as planned later this year or next.

What a great idea for a June wedding! Definitely makes sense. It's hard to know what things will be like in 5 months, and even if there aren't restrictions, people will probably be wary. So I'd love to have dancing and also something else if people would prefer not to.

Thank you! That’s what I’m hoping too!! As of now, our venue cannot serve food or drinks until we are in the next phase. At a stand still now and waiting for a month to see where it stands.

Photo booth, maybe some casino table rentals, dancing, etc. I mean its going to be hard but social distancing will be broken some how. some way. even with all the precautions in place. I'm glad that our facility is making everyone bring a covid test within 72 hours this way we know we are safe not 100%) but we will be able to dance and not be stressed although my sister says in September she will still be sporting her mask.

Love these ideas! 10/3/20 in Georgia & if it comes down to dancing or postponing ... I’m willing to part with the dancing! These are great alternatives. Another thought I had was to change the time from a 5PM wedding to one earlier in the day to kind of change the vibe!

Oh that's a good idea too! I had been searching for a good WW article or forum post about things to do other than dancing, but couldn't find anything good, so I posted one. I'd love to be able to dance, but I also want my guests to be safe.

If worse comes to worse we will still have our ceremony with limited family and then throw a large party later. Currently, we are planning on a photo booth, a crossword puzzle on "how well do you know the couple" and dancing. I don't want to do board games, face painting or anything that makes it seem like family game night or a carnival.

I completely understand. I had to postpone my reception and now they are saying no dancing. I dont know how to feel about that. How do I entertain 100 people? I hope they will allow karaoke. I like singing way more than dancing. I am usually the person who dances the whole time. I'm really bummed about the whole thing.

Karaoke sounds like a great idea! I think we will end up postponing our October celebration to October 2021 - many of our VIP guests are immunocompromised and many said they were uncomfortable with passed hors d'eouvres, dancing, and no masks for cocktail hour and dinner (and how can you eat with a mask?). I hope you find a great alternative to dancing - even a silent disco so guests can be further apart. Let us know!

I really like your idea and was thinking about doing something similar - but I'm wondering how feasible it will be? I'm getting married in NY but I live in Colorado. I'm coming out (parents live out east) a week before my August wedding but so far I haven't seen a way to get a test if you're not a resident? Would love your thoughts!

So we do have free testing for NY residents but our Labs(quest diagnostics and Lab-corp) urgent care centers, CVS are offering them and you can pay for them.
