Custom Dress Problems

Sylvia, on September 17, 2019 at 10:46 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4

I'm 164 days out from my wedding date and my tailor has not started constructing my wedding dress. Should I be freaking out?

I had my dress and veil custom made. My wedding was December 23 and they didn't want to begin working on it until end of September.. It really only took them 6 weeks, so about 45 days. So you still have plenty of time!

Well, that makes me feel a little better. I just freaked out a little when he told me he was still looking for the lace...I guess I was just expecting construction to take longer but I'm hoping for the best. Thanks!

It actually goes very quickly! My dressmaker would have been done with it probably in 3-4 weeks but I was the hold up because my work schedule made it difficult for me to go for the fittings so I had to space them out. I was able to buy my own fabric. I live about 1.5 hours from San Francisco and there is a huge fabric store there called Britex that is apparently popular with high end designers, etc. They have 4 stories of fabrics, notions, accessory items, imported laces, etc. My bridesmaids and I made a day trip out of it and had a lot of fun choosing all my fabric. They have a website and I believe they ship certain fabric so maybe have your dressmaker check them out for lace? I bought this really beautiful imported chantilly lace that my dressmaker said was a dream to work with because of its excellent quality. Lower quality lace is more difficult to work with.

    Hey there, Sylvia!

Did you ask them how long they expect it to take them to make the dress? Finding this out may ease your mind and I'm sure they wouldn't mind giving you this info Smiley smile

What will your dress be like?
