Custom Domain Name

FutureMrsSuge, on September 22, 2016 at 1:20 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 16

Did you pay for a custom domain or used the standard version for your website? I'm trying to weight the pros and cons of both .

I think the only person besides me who has looked at my website in its 9 months of existence is my mother.

    Save the money.

I did! It was only like $20. I'm hoping people will look at it since it's an OOT/DW for most people so it has the hotel information on there.

We got a custom domain. It was only like $20 and almost all of our guests used it at some point.

I'm considering it! I enjoy web/graphic design and this would just be a nice excuse to play around with that stuff. If you're strapped for cash, it's definitely not necessary!

We bought a .wedding domain for $25. A .com is much cheaper, but both combinations of our names were taken.

We did a custom name through theknot (before I knew I could do it through WordPress) HeatherAndZak.com (the same as our hashtag so that people wouldn't be confused.)

It was only $20, and a lot of people looked at it... I'm going to use it as sort of a blog now. I've got people that are still looking at it.

I think it is worth it in my opinion.

I've received two STDs that have

www.theknot.com/us/hername-hisname and I honestly didn't type that in, I just as searched his name and her name on Google. It was easier seeing as I didn't have the STD with me whenever I went to look at it.

It really depends on your money situation, do you have the $20 to spend? It depends on your guest demographic. Are they older, will they know how to work it? Younger? Automatically look it up? Etc.

It worked for me. Doesn't mean it works for everyone.

We got one through Minted for our wedding website - it's the same as our hashtag, and much easier to remember/read than the one provided for free. It was included in the website purchase I made - so I figured I might as well use it.

I used a free one (.tk) instead of .com. Google free web domains I don't remember the exact website right now.

The actual site is hosted on the knot

Money isn't a issue but I so hate to waste it . I believe our website would actually be used since the booking information is on there .

We bought a custom one, through Wix, and I created it myself. Since we're doing a DW I wanted it to be highly functional for that purpose. Our RSVP is also 100% online, so I wanted a nice URL to write on the invitations.
