Custom cake toppers

Laura, on February 20, 2010 at 1:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

First of all, I just want to say hi to everyone on WW. I just joined today, but I have been visiting the site several times a day now for the past two months. I figured it was finally time to join. All of you ladies have wonderful advice for each other, so I wanted to join so I could share with all of you too Smiley smile

I was wondering if any of you know of a cheap place where I can get a custom cake topper. I met my FH while working at Cedar Point Amusement Park and we will be having our wedding in the same town that the park is located. I wanted to get a bride and groom sitting in a roller coaster car for the cake topper. I know about etsy.com, but I was wondering if there was anything else out there that I did not know about. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I would love to have one. Thanks!

I just wanted to tell you how much I LOVE your date Smiley winking

As for the topper situation, I don't know how cheap you'll be able to get a custom topper. This is the cheapest I've found so far and I don't even know if you could get them in a roller coaster car.

    Try this site: http://www.glasscaketops.com/places.html

it's not exactly what you were looking for at $150.00 but at least it's a start.

    Good luck!!!

Oh! If you don't need to save your cake topper forever how about you ask your baker to see if they can make one out of fondany or something... maybe something like this? http://www.lindyscakes.co.uk/RollercoasterWeddingCake.jpg

Or if you want to get crafty, you can get some of that bake-able colored molding clay and make it yourself Smiley smile

Hi Laura. Welcome to WW. Sandusky is my hometown. Where are you having your wedding? Will either of you be working at the park this summer? Maybe you can find some type of rollercoaster at one of the gift shops?

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! I will be sure to check them out.

ladylee, our ceremony will be at St Stephens United Church of Christ and our reception will be at Caesars Crystal Palace. We are not returning to work there this year, we now both have degrees and our CP days are over. But I am sure we will have season passes so maybe I could look in the park Smiley smile

Another total cake idea would be having fondant or gumpaste rollercoaster winding all oer the cake. On the top is a care with a bride and groom. IF you get a good cake artist you could even have your own and your Fh colloring on the bride and groom.

If your cake person has a sugar artist on staff talk to them about a gumpaste or molded sugar custom topper. They will last practically forever if protected from moisture...I have some pieces that I made over 30 years ago and they are in perfect condition. I advise my brides/grooms to get a glass display dome/box for storing the gumpaste items.

Thank you! I think after getting your ideas here I am just going to contact some cake places and see if they can just make something right there in their bakery.

And thank you for all of the welcoming messages Smiley smile

Etsy.com -- If you don't find a seller you like that does custom toppers, there is the Alchemy section where people will bid to do your project Smiley smile

THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Mine is me on my 4-wheeler pulling him out of the mud on his. They make WHATEVER you want and they look just like you. Cost depends on what you get but believe me I CHECKED EVERYWHERE. They have the BEST for the BEST price. I'm not sure if they go over $300 but if youve seriously been pricing then you know thats CHEAP. Good luck!
