Cups for Favors??

Danielle, on July 27, 2018 at 2:27 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 28
My fiancé and I weren’t going to do favors. But I recently saw a really good deal and customized cups (nice plastic to reuse, not thin). What do you think of cups as a favor?

We have tap beers as our complementary drink so they would most def be used, but how many people would just leave them?

If we do them should we give them to the bartenders to hand out or have a table with them on with a sign that says “Favors - use for the night or keep for life”? Or something like that lol

I would never take a cup home. I'd use it at the wedding and leave it behind. I think most of my friends would do the same.

I think it's a cute idea! I like having extra plastic cups for up at the cabin or on the deck... I like the idea of having them on a favor table for people to grab if they would like to have a beer and use them (or just grab one and bring home but not have a beer).

20 year old me would love to take a cup home from a wedding! 26 year old me would leave it there since I do not need anymore cups and I am trying to have only matching sets.

Agree! I think some people (immediate family members) would take them, but I think you would end up with tons of leftover cups. I personally do not care for personalized wedding gifts - just realistically speaking, I’m not going to use a coaster, a koozie, etc. that has someone elses names and wedding date on it, just like I would if I was a bm, and was given a tumbler or makeup bag thats says “bm” on it.

I’m definitely not against the cups because you are going to need something to serve your drinks in! I bet they will look really cute! However I wouldn’t expect that people are going to take them, and I think you will end up with lots of leftovers. For any type of party I think the best favors are edible, if you are going to do them, but I definitely don’t think they are necessary. We are providing our guest a meal, drinks, dancing, photobooth, cake, and an ice cream bar - no need to provide favors.

In college I'd have said I'd like them, but we have more glasses than I know what to do with now so I'd probably leave these. You could buy them and not call them favors? Just have a sign saying "Use for the night or keep for life". You don't technically need favors anyways.

I’m assuming the bar provides their own cups? Are they making you provide your own? I wouldn’t take any plastic cups home to use. I haven’t used plastic cups
    since my kids were little.

If I was using the cup at a wedding I wouldn't want to bring a sticky cup home.

    Mason JarsCups for Favors?? 1

Most people aren't for this, but this is what I'm doing to double as favors/seating chart.

I think it's a know your crowd thing as well.

I'm not sure why some people say they would never take things home like that. Why not? If I go to a wedding and know someone spent money on favors I would take one. I would like a cup! I would use it

I keep the bare minimum of what’s necessary for our family of 4 in our house. My kids have a set of plastic kids cups that match their plate/utensil set and my husband and I have one set of plain glasses and one set of wine glasses. We’ve spent the last 3 years completely clearing out our house of unnecessary things so why would I take an unnecessary thing home with me?

Because I don’t use plastic cups? Why take something home to throw it away?

My friend just did this for her wedding in June and most of the cups were left. My wedding is in two weeks and we made homemade jam and locally sourced honey for our favors! Cheap and everyone loves jam and honey!

Exactly this! I have worked hard to declutter my house and fill it with high quality furnishings and decor. I finally got rid of all the random plates, cups, glasses, etc. and now have fine china, good quality every day dishes and glasses. Why would I want to take home a plastic cup with someone's else name and wedding date on it? Maybe part of this is an age thing? As you get older you become more picky about your home and what's in it?

I've seen so much stuff left behind from weddings. I wouldn't take a cup home that I had been drinking out of all night. I say don't do it.

Awww, we're old ladies! LOL. Everything in my cabinets matches too. I'm past the days of random mismatched dishes and a cabinet full of plastic cups.

I do like the idea, but I've been to a handful of weddings that have done this, and I almost always left my cup behind. 9/10 times it was sticky and gross from what I was drinking, and it was easier to just leave it behind than be bothered with it.
