Crushed Dream Wedding

Mrs. Spring, on September 10, 2020 at 4:28 AM Posted in Community Conversations 1 4

I was never asked to prom and my high school required dates, So I didn't get to go.
I was asked to be the flower girl when I was 7 at my grandma's wedding. My mom didn't like my grandma's fiancé so she pulled me out then made me go to the wedding and watch another little girl who people said was "so much prettier than me" be the flower girl.
I can think of so many other stories but dont want to get in a rant.
I've noticed many women on here talking about their disappointment with not having their dream weddings because of COVID. For anyone who feels this way... did you ever have opportunities to feel special in the past? Such as winning a gold medal? Going to prom with who you wanted and feeling beautiful? I didn't go to prom, but I was never interested and never wanted to go to any school dance for some reason. But I am definitely looking forward to marry my fiance. Our minimony is less than 4 weeks away, and our wedding is in March. I CAN'T WAIT!

I know this isn't what your post was about lol, but for the COVID brides just hang in there and try not to stress. We will all get through this!

I didn’t go to a single high school dance let alone prom. I wasn’t asked. I wasn’t overly interested but it would have been nice to be asked and at least consider going. I have only been in one wedding, which was my sisters, obviously not a day about me.

I was very athletic and very good a softball growing up. So the attention was on me for that but never had an opportunity to feel beautiful and that didn’t really make me feel special. It was my hard work that got me there. I was proud of what I did, be nothing made me feel special.
My fiancé, makes me feel beautiful and special. Daily. Yeah we postponed our October 2020 wedding to October 2021. But I don’t think that’ll take away or make the new date any less special even if it’s not exactly how we envisioned it prior to Covid. I’m very excited and 13 months better fly!
