Creative ideas for how to ask officiant?

First find out if it is legal in your area for anyone you choose to be ordained by the county. Just ask them point blank. No need to make an expensive proposal box.

Hating surprises myself, I would always prefer people ask me in person, or talking on the phone, to any item delivered or special dinner or gift. When the marriage happens, a thank you gift if you want to. But never what feels like a bribe up front. If she is actually honored, no gift would be necessary. (Bridesmaid proposals are still a new thing, and a lot of people don't like them. )

We asked our friend in person and once he said yes we gave him an "officiant gift box" with a note, personalized pen and a pair of socks in his favorite color with a label that said, "Thank you for standing with us on our special day". He loved it! I recommend searching "officiant gift" on etsy if you're looking for other ideas 🙂

Oh yeah, I forgot we also included a mini champagne bottle 🍾
