Cowboy boots or no?

Ashley, on July 28, 2016 at 3:33 PM

I have always wanted to wear cowboy boots at my wedding but not sure how they would look now that I bought my dress. I definitely do not want heels though because it is outdoors in grass...

If you wear them in your normal, everyday life, absolutely go for it.

It's not a "trend" like so many people mention, it's what people wear for work and life - a lot.

FMP - we can talk about when I do castration, or harvest all our own meat on our land, or pack our goats...

I had other shoes, but it rained that morning and though it was dry, I took no chances with the heels.

I say no. I think they are overdone and honestly your feet get really hot.

Others have said "well, you don't see the shoes anyways so it doesn't matter what you wear", so do a test run with some boots under the dress and see how it is in motion and if you like how it looks and if it is comfortable.

If it makes you happy, you do you! You can always have backup flats too for later if the boots get too hot/heavy for dancing or whatnot.

Not my personal taste. Unless you're living a life that Cowboy boots are needed, it seems inauthentic. Like, fake. I wouldn't be offended though. Like people that wear captains hats when they don't have a boat.

I mean this in the nicest, most non-offensive way possible but I think the boots with dresses (bridal or otherwise) look is absolutely ridiculous and should never be done. Ever.

However, this is one of those situations where the phrase "it's your day and you can do what you want" really is applicable. If that's what makes you feel pretty and comfortable on your big day, then by all means go for it.

I don't get the "it's my everyday wear" argument for cowboy boots because it's not like any of us wear the type of shoe we wore at our weddings every day. But, weddings are special. They deserve nicer shoes. Just my opinion, but...

I say go for it. I'm doing it and it's not something I would normally do and mine are a barn red color. Yep...totally taboo and perfect. It's supposed to be a fun day and with all the stress and expense that leads up to the day - just make it fun.

I say do what makes you feel comfortable. Yes I am wearing boots. I actually couldn't imagine being in anything else. Unless you count my nikes. It doesn't matter if you see them or not it's just what you want and like. It's your big day.

I would say to go for it! Do what makes you feel comfortable!! People probably won't be seeing your shoes anyways for the most part!!

My opinion on cowboy boots aside, they're neutral enough (though as PP said they won't be seen) and there's nothing *wrong* with wearing boots with your gown. If it's what you always wanted, go for it!

@Swin- it is still valid to a lot of people and many people do wear the shoes that they wear on a daily basis.. Like converse, toms, etc.

I wear boots on a daily basis so I will be wearing them with my dress, but I will say that they are a much nicer/fancier boot, which do exist! It's all a personal opinion though, do what you like!

I personally don't like the cowboy look but your dress would cover them. I think it's all about being comfortable. I'm wearing flat sandals because that's most comfortable for me. If you think cowboy boots are the most comfy go for it.

I'm not wearing boots with my dress (barefoot!!), but my bridesmaids are because they all love boots and it fits our theme. I think the boots might be awkward with your dress because of how fitted and the style it is. But they won't be seen and this is your so it is totally up to you. Just be the bride you want to be. Smiley smile
