Ciera, on March 18, 2020 at 12:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 23
Any 2020 brides still getting married on there wedding day And planning a reception later due to the covid-19?

So stuck and stressed right now, don’t want to postpone but looks like I’ll have to. My wedding date is 5/16/20.

April 26th wedding, we have 9 days to decide if we’re keeping our date or postponing. If we postpone we’ll still get married on 4.26 but we’ll have a reception at a later date

My wedding is 5/10/20. 95% of our guest are from out of town, even though 80% are in the same state, it’s still at least a 5 hour drive for them. My Fiancé’s family is flying in from out of the country. His family is small so we’d hate for them to not be able to make it. We’re concerned for everyone’s health so we’ve decided to postpone. Date it TBD but because our venue is a flower garden, it might be postponed to next year. We've already gotten our marriage license and don’t want to lose out on the $ we paid for it so we’ll probably get married on paper and still do the ceremony and reception later. We’ve been together 10 years and engaged for almost 2.

We are having our ceremony this Saturday as this was our original wedding date. We postponed the bigger ceremony and reception to November 14, 2020. It won't really be a ceremony in 8 months and will instead be a vow renewal, but we want to do the full experience at a later date even though we will legally be married.

Hi Ciera! I've seen several brides talking about postponing the party but moving forward with private plans in this discussion: Anyone still getting married despite Formal wedding postponed?

I am because I want photos of me in my dress with my bridesmaids. We’ll still do first dance, dance with parents, cake cutting, all of it

Most likely, our venue says we can wait ten days before deciding officially since we’re at the tail end of April

Our wedding is 04/09 and we need to reschedule. As long as the world hasn’t shut down, we will still marry 04/09 with our parents at the courthouse and reschedule the full wedding (vow renewal coronavirus survival party) at a later date.

Yes, my wedding date is also May 16, 2020. We are planning to still have a ceremony but very intimate and having our larger reception in September. It was a hard decision but seems like the best idea atm with everything going on. We will be calling our reception; A celebration of Marriage.

I’m only wearing my wedding dress for the ceremony and getting portraits done that day.
I’ve started looking at different dresses for the reception in September. I still plan on formal dress but more colorful/different style. But I’ve heard some brides do wear their wedding dress again if they want.

I was also feeling stressed before because it’s been over a year of planning. But after sitting down with my fiancé we decided the most important thing is to get married and staying positive through everything. My mother suggested the celebration of marriage reception. We are still looking forward to it and our family/friends completely understand and like the idea.
Luckily, most venues and vendors are doing their best to accommodate brides right now with changing dates. If you are planning on changing your date; I recommend doing it very soon because when I called my venue this week they only had a few dates left for Autumn/ winter. They said venues everywhere are getting calls to reschedule many April/ May weddings.

Currently doing the same, so glad most of vendors are willing to work with us and give refunds, just really sucks I had this vision and my head and now it’s all gone. How do you plan on doing your ceremony if you don’t mind me asking.
