So many brides say they were unable to eat. How does that work? Is it due to nerves or something else? If you did eat at your wedding, did you have to force yourself to sit down or was it like any other dinner party with no issues?

Our venue coordinator considered it a personal failing if her bridal couples didn't eat.
If you don't eat on your wedding day, it is because someone else *didn't do their job*.
We had a sweetheart table, AND a server - though we had a buffet - and our meals were brought to us, basically before anyone else's.
While people did come up to us, they were also getting their food, so there wasn't an issue.
Also, I'm a hypoglycemic, and if I hadn't eaten, the day would have ended by the bride fainting from low blood sugar.

To each their own, but no one noticed because we were all occupied with getting our food at the buffet table by table. It was 20 min out of the beginning of the reception, so no one missed them. I see where you're coming from, but where I'm from it's common to do this and not a big deal lol.
They mingled a bit with guests at cocktail hour, but also had to take any extra pictures.
