Couples who are having your ceremony/reception in the same place...

If you're having your ceremony/reception in the same place...how are you dealing with a DJ? I'm trying to think about logistics as far as set up. Would he be setting up while the ceremony is happening? Or do I want to spend more money to have him set up early?

Our is as well. Our ceremony starts at 4 so he said he will get there between 3 - 3:30 to set up but our "service" doesn't start until 4 so we only had to pay for the 5 hours of actual music

Our DJ will be arriving 30-60 minutes before the ceremony to ensure he'll be set in time. He needs to climb some steps to a balcony, so we want to make sure he's out of the way before too many guests arrive.

My DJ offered a small upcharge to the package to mic up the groom and officient, speakers in that area of the venue for the ceremony. This way he doesnt have to move re set up anything for the reception. I asked him about a package deal that would cover those costs as well as lighting (uplighting for brick columns and dance floor) and he was able to extend a discount if I got it all.

Once we are able to lock down a DJ it's not a problem, we're having it at a community center, and there is already a DJ stage there

Our DJ is setting up both the ceremony and reception before the wedding starts. They said they’d be there about an hour before the ceremony to set everything up (we had to pay extra for two setups but there’s really no other way to do it).
