Couples getting married on September 4, 2020

Dominique, on February 6, 2020 at 5:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 20
Hey guys! Has anyone received a lot of push back from family about the wedding being on a Friday?? Everyone I speak to acts like it’s the end of the world that the wedding isn’t on a Saturday. It has me worried that many of the guests will decline to come since it is a work day.

Ok then they don't come. Girl uts your and your fh's day do what you want. If you give in they'll keep dictating your wedding. Have your wedding when you want and when it's good for you two...not others.

Weddings on a Friday are very common now, Dominique! Those who want to be there will make the effort to go, the same as if it was a Saturday Smiley smile What time is your wedding starting the Friday?

The ceremony starts at 4p and the reception runs until 10p.

Girl anytime. I know that as brides we want to make everyone happy but ultimately you need to do what makes you happy. I personally do not see an issue with Friday as they have the next day off. I have been to weddings on a Friday and a Sunday and I still went and enjoyed myself. Do you boo boo!

It is true you can do whatever you want, but that holds for your guests as well. If the day/time selected doesn't work for them, they will decline. As long as you're okay with that, all is good. (And, there will be people who respond with, "those who love you will be there!", but I think that is misleading. People can love you to the moon and back but may not be able to get the time off work or whatever, and decline. Please do not buy into the idea that they "don't love you." It means the time and day you've chosen doesn't fit their schedule.)

I'm getting married on a Friday too and I did run into this... once... from my retired FFIL Smiley ups

He was worried that people wouldn't be able to take time off and my response was, then they don't come. Our start time is 4 so it's not like anyone would have to take the whole day off, except the few who are coming from out of town.

We have all of our RSVP's in and guess what, only one person said they couldn't make it and it was because of a previous engagement not because it was on a Friday. People will make it work or you just have to understand that they couldn't make it. Plus, even if you had it on a Saturday there could be people that complain because some people actually work weekends; you can't please everyone.

I also know a couple of people who used to work at wedding venues and they said that Friday weddings always seemed to have the most fun. Either way it's your day and if you want your wedding on a Friday then have it on a Friday.

Our original date was July 3rd (a Friday) and due to Covid19 we pushed back to September 4th

which is still a Friday. We are having the opposite problem too many people want to come. Which we just added two new people today and agreed no more people we are at max capacity.

Still on for 9/4/20 in Illinois.. we already had to postpone our wedding from 3/20/20 due to the shutdown. Since it was cancelled so close to the date, just about everyone, including the venue, was paid in full. We have zero desire to postpone it once again. We obviously know there are going to be restrictions here in IL. Also, I totally understand that there’s going to be people that don’t feel comfortable coming and that’s fine and understandable. There’s always going to be somebody that can’t come because they’re too pregnant, they’re sick, they have a family emergency, they can’t get off work, etc.. However, I’m the bride, It’s my wedding, and the show must go on!!

Originally 5/8/20, now we're 9/4/20! We are actually already married because we couldn’t wait!! Both on Fridays because we can save $2000 alone on our venue just because it’s not a Saturday

Hi Dominique, we got married on Friday August 14th and only two people couldn’t come due to work obligations, which was understandable. We still had a good turn out. With Covid, postponing so many weddings and events, Saturday weddings are booked quicker then ever. For us, we were very lucky to get a Friday for our postponed date. We had a 4pm ceremony as well. I hope the family members who are pushing back quickly realize brides need support now more then ever ❤️ Good luck girl and Friday weddings are awesome, don’t worry 😉👍🥂

We are planning to book our wedding on a Sunday 6/27/21. I'm just going to make sure that I send out my save the dates next month, that way our guests will have plenty of time to plan for taking off if they need to. I think your Friday event will turn out pretty well though.

    Congratulations Smiley heart
