Hello ladies, just wondering how far into planning you all are. I’m still looking around at venues and vendors but have narrowed it down to a few.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Kriz! Congratulations on your engagement!

That's wonderful that you have a shortlist for your venue and vendors!

What are you looking for in a venue?

I’m not even sure. We both wanted an outdoor venue but due to where we live the weather can be so unpredictable. I’ve found some indoor ones that I like but now I’m second guessing.

Perhaps you could look for venues with an outdoor area, but also a beautiful indoor area you can use as a backup?

I’ve found some like that but they were pretty pricey. I can tell the venue is going to eat up most of our budget.

I still have a lot to do. We are considering destination wedding. It’s sooo much with planning. I am still looking for a venue here as well.

Keep in mind this is not the first marriage for either of us, and that we are 44 and 50 and are paying for the entire event ourselves.... and that I'm a habitual pre-planner... but we are well on our way! We have our venue and caterer booked and have several other vendors narrowed down. He wanted a barn wedding so we had to get the venue secured quickly as they book fast in my area. I found my dress, but that was a total fluke, it was marked down from $1400 to $399 and fit near perfectly - so I had to buy it Smiley smile. Fingers crossed we will have our cake baker booked soon as we have a cake tasting this week. I found a great deal on invites that we both love and fit our theme, so those are done and waiting to be mailed, and I have bought the majority of the supplies for out centerpieces. I don't think its ever possible to be "to far" ahead of the game. Good luck on your planning - when you start this early it can be alot of fun, and hopefully a bit less stressful!

We chose a wedding venue that is all inclusive so all I really had to do was pay for the package we wanted and the vendors are included so photography, dj, cake, flowers, and catering were already chosen we just have to meet with them to go over what specifically we want. I already bought my wedding dress but what I have left now is picking a bridesmaids dress, buying a veil, buying my shoes and accessories, getting bridesmaids gifts, suits for the groom and groomsmen, plan the rehearsal dinner and narrow down my music playlist for the dj (amongst meeting with vendors to make our decisions).

I was overwhelmed with all the options and not being able to coordinate it with my budget that in the end I realized I'd rather go with the all inclusive option so that I had less of the searching to do and it was honestly the best decision we made.

The best part, the all inclusive venue with the top package was still under budget so we're saving money!

If you need any help or just need to vent, these forums or so helpful!! Best of luck with all your planning!

Holy moly we are getting so close! I've been planning since February 2020, but time seems to have flown by! All of our vendors are booked, confirmed, and most are paid! We met with our venue this past week and walked through all the details, so I feel pretty good about things. Honeymoon is all booked (just have to finished paying for that part still). Can't believe it's almost here. Hope all my Oct 8th wedding ladies & gents are feeling stress free excitement about their big day!

Can't believe we're less than 50 days to the big day! Soooo excited! Just sent out the formal invitations this week and the bridal shower is this weekend. Most of the details are locked down but we're still booking things for the honeymoon and have hair/makeup and cake still to confirm. Hope you all are enjoying this process and the final seven weeks ahead!!

Ahh! So many tiny things to do. Lots of vendor payment stuff. Lots of things to print. Need to get my jewelry and the ring bearer pillow and the favors haven't shipped yet. Eek! We're so close!
