Any suggestions for the following?: Our wedding was scheduled for May 16, 2020 and we had almost 200 guests attending, and 90% of our guests were traveling from out of town, so a Saturday wedding is the most convenient for us and our families. Our state governor announced earlier this week that no events over 10 are allowed for the next 8 weeks, so the venue offered to re-schedule our reception for either August, Halloween, or November. Needless to say, none of these times will work for us. Our church, our pastor, and all of our vendors are available for 10/3/20, so we chose this as a new date. The venue is not available 10/3/20 and is NOT willing to refund our hard-earned money that we saved specifically for our wedding. Instead, they told us to re-read their "CONTRACT"!!! WE ARE ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED!!!!

I'm so sorry, Cheryl, these are uncertain and unprecedented times. What does the venue contract say? Can the give you a partial refund but not refund your deposit, or do you lose everything? Many wedding vendors are facing hard times and hard choices including layoffs and shuttering completely due to not being able to work for the next several weeks so we're seeing some really sad and difficult choices on both sides of this. Are you considering looking for another venue?

I'm so so sorry, you'll get through this. Sending you my support Smiley heart

Hi! We’ve been engaged since Christmas 2019. We were originally getting married on my birthday in July but had to postpone. Now we will be married just 3 days shy of the 18th anniversary of the day we met!

Our wedding is scheduled to be on October 3rd but with all the uncertainty going on in the world at the moment we do not know. We still have more things to pay for and my FH was just laid off because of all this. We don't know how long he will be out of work and have talked about postponing the wedding until next year. Smiley cry

I’m getting Married 10/3. I’m involved with scheduling the date for my shower due to my work schedule. Wanted to do it 100% outside so is scheduled for 6/7, but concerned if we should reschedule. Even if this is over mid May I feel that people might still be scared for a large gathering.

I am so overwhelmed by all that’s going on, I have practically paused the planning. I am currently contemplating rescheduling our 10/03/20 wedding day. It just doesn’t seem that things will be to some level of normalcy and I do believe people will be scared and still fearful regarding your June shower.

    Let’s all hang in here.

    Hello, Jo:

Thank you for your support. They are not willing to refund anything. It's been challenging, but I'm trying to remain positive especially considering these most difficult times. I don't know how it's going to end up and I have no energy to fight them! How are you feeling about going forward on October 3, 2020?

I am very concerned about our 10/03 date. I am not sure that all this will be over where more than 10 people can gather. I would hate to spend all that money only to have a half filled event. Postponing will
cost us more money. It’s a catch 22 situation.

    Thoughts? Ideas?

I think I would go ahead with those that show up and maybe have a less formal but fun gathering for your 1st anniversary. Maybe even get a second wear out of your wedding dress.

Hi everyone! My FH and I have know each other 7 years, dating 3, and engaged since Feb 7, 2020. Planning (essentially all life during COVID) has been stressful to say the least. I’m thinking of all of you facing these challenging times too and living in the uncertainty of it all. We have debated postponing or changing from a large 100+ wedding to a wedding with just bridal party and immediate family. Only problem, 3 bridesmaids would need to fly and we aren’t sure that’ll be possible in Oct or if they’ll feel comfortable being on a flight. I don’t want anyone to have to risk their safety for our wedding. We are also considering a small ceremony with just immediate family (10 people) and then figuring out the larger gathering (either 30 people next year, or the large wedding) for the summer of 2021. That allows us to still get married, but not have to spend this already stressful time planning. We can spend the next few months doing marriage counseling with our pastor and focusing on the marriage more than the wedding day. If we end up deciding next year that we really don’t need a big wedding, I’ll probably have to offer to reimburse my bridesmaids for their dresses and just deal with the loss of money we spent already for venues that we can’t get the money back from. I figure those whose livelihoods are in the wedding industry are suffering right now too, so if I have to pay them and not have a wedding, at least they are not suffering quite as much during all this. Praying for all of you and hoping you and your spouse grow closer through the challenges. These are tough times but we’re all in this together! ❤️
