Hi Brittany! Have you looked into community centers or even churches?

No need to go crazy looking for a venue 2 years out. It's good to get ideas of what's out there but you still have plenty of time. I would say 12-18 months out is a good time frame to find your venue.

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Brittany!

As Earias mentioned, there is nothing wrong with looking at venues two years out. There are so many venues to choose from, no harm in narrowing down the selection now while you have loads of time Smiley smile

Do you have a particular venue type in mind (barn, hotel, mansion, waterfront, beach, etc.)?

I strongly disagree with the comment above telling you that you have plenty of time. Our wedding is 6/5/21 and we booked our venue about 2 months ago. Believe it or not, big vendors like venue, photographer, catering etc, all do book this far in advance. Book what you can early so you aren't risking the vendors you love being unavailable.

I already booked my venue. The event manager sent me an email a month ago telling me that there were couples booking the venue around the same day as me and my fiancé want.

That’s a Saturday. In June. We’re getting married next June 19th (2020), which is a Friday. I was told when we were looking at venues, Saturday’s in June had been booked a year and a half to two years ahead of time. Definitely start looking now! You can always get the opinion of the reception venues. And yay for choosing an amazing date 😉

I have started looking for venues, I went and met with one venue and imma look at like 2 more before I choose... I’m glad I am picking the venue early because most are kind of pricey, so it gives you plenty of time to save and pay.

That's our chosen date, too. I have found the venue I want, but we haven't secured it yet. We've been engaged a whole 2 weeks so I feel like we have a little time. LOL. Since we HAVE only been engaged for 2 weeks, we wanted to get some financial things cleaned up and secure our venue early next year. I have spoken with a rep from the venue and we both feel confident that with our timing, we should be fine getting our date so....fingers crossed.

So I found a venue that I really love but I am going to look at a couple more just to be sure... I plan to book my venue soon so that I have plenty of time to pay on it... they allow deposit then as many payments as you want... works great since we will be paying for wedding primarily by ourselves...

SO glad I'm not the only one planning already for a 2021 wedding!! We're getting married June 27, 2021 so just after you Smiley smile We already have our venue and it's all-inclusive, so really we have the venue, caterer, cake, planner, rentals, bar service, and ceremony location figured out. We also already booked the DJ and photographer. The venue, DJ, and photographer are all really popular vendors for our location and since it's a summer wedding they'll book up REALLY quickly, and I'm a *bit* picky so I wanted to make sure we got what we wanted. All of them already had dates booked out for 2021 and we booked with them in the first two-three months of 2019, so it was important that we contacted them very early.

I'm taking a really casual attitude to the rest of the details right now because it's so far away, but it's really calming knowing we already got the things we considered the most important squared away. I think it'll be less stressful as we get closer because I won't be rushed on anything. There's no problem starting early!!

Our wedding is on 6.19.21 We have our venue booked already. I am a freak when it comes to planning anything (that's the executive in me) and need to plan everything in advance. So I was worried that our date was going to get taken. We are getting married at a popular golf course.

The benefit of having a long engagement is that you can plan and take your time. If you change your mind on anything you have the additional time to fix it. I have been able to ask friends and family for advice on the wedding. It has helped me with the "what not to do's".

So my advice... take your time on the little things, but plan for the BIG things like the venue. Get it booked ladies!!!!

    Thanks, Missy

We're getting married in March and booked our venues and vendors almost 2 years in advance because they book up fast!

I don't think it's wrong if you know it's THE venue/vendors that you want!

We got engaged in July this year, and booked our venue by the end of September for 6/19/21

When we asked, they said that the 5th of that month was already booked.

We're planning on getting married on this date Smiley smile We can't book the ceremony location until 1 year beforehand, so it's a waiting game right now xD. It's 3 days before my birthday, which is closer than I would have liked.

Mine is already booked. We’re getting married at our church. If you find one your heart is set on, go for it.
