Couples getting married on January 22, 2022

Hey Guys!

With all of the craziness going on, the generally gleeful attitude in the discussion board has become a bit bleak. This is completely understandable given the current circumstances... Having said that, I thought I might reach out to January 2022 brides and grooms to see if you all were working on anything for the big day and what that was! It’s obviously a ways away, but is there anything that you all are focusing on or excited about right now regarding planning? Anything to stress about yet?
Thank you so much for your time and I look forwards to reading your responses!

On the search for anything besides a COVID post.

My date is actually 10/10/20 and who knows if it will go through or not... it’s out of my control 🤷🏽‍♀️ So, I can’t sit and cry about it. But I had to respond to your post because I agree that this board has become so depressing that it’s hard to come here anymore. The pages and pages of identical COVID-19 posts/questions is kind of stealing others’ joy, especially those who have weddings in 2021 and beyond. So thanks for trying to bring the bliss back to WW. Congrats and happy planning!!!

    Hello all!,

I recently got engaged on Sunday. So far we have set our date (1/22/22) and visited 2 venues. I think we have chosen the venue that we like. We have also decided on colors and theme. We were actually in the middle of taking family photos with our children (blended family) when my love popped the question, so I'm almost certain engagement photos were taken immediately after lol! I'm actually glad that we chose a date in 2022 because we can take our time planning and I not have a panic attack. So nice to meet you all! : )

    Dear Levika,

Thank you so much for your response! We chose 01/22/2022 because we wanted to have a wedding during a time that is cool and away from other major holidays that might overshadow our anniversary. Wanting to have a date during cooler months makes it difficult where I live because it also tends to be the rainy season, so you have to chose a date that's almost in the dead of winter (spring and fall are very rainy and unpredictable). Also, I am absolutely TERRIBLE at remembering dates (today is actually our 5th anniversary!) and needed something concise and easy to remember. We also wanted to make sure we set it out far enough to plan and save (which is why we'll have been engaged over three years when we get married).

According to the almanac, the least possible chance of rain for the entire year is in the days surrounding the 22nd for my area, although the chances are less when you work towards early February and then they start to rise again. Another reason we wanted to have our wedding in January is that it's the coolest month here (40s-60s) and since we're having a black-tie outdoor wedding, it would be heinous to ask our gusts to dress formally anytime between March and October.

In addition, we have my birthday in October, then Holloween, then my FH's brother's birthday in November, then Thanksgiving, then my dad and grandfather's birthdays, then my brother's birthday, then Christmas and then my FH's sister's birthday, then New Years. We're not huge fans of Valentine's Day, so we'll kind of be replacing the holiday with our anniversary. Then, in March, is Campbell, my FH's birthday. So the dates we could plan the wedding for were limited between late January and early February, and after reviewing, saw that these dates had the least possibility for rain and that it would be good weather (heaters and blankets, if needed, provided) to have our indoor/outdoor(mostly) wedding.

Again, thank you so much for your response! Did you all pick the date for similar reasons?

    Hi Aubrianna!

Wedding planning is in full swing for me now as I had it on the back burner. I finally just graduated nursing school and was picking away at things in the meantime. How are things going planning wise for you? Are you having a close to home wedding or a destination wedding? I know planning can change a bit depending on the type of wedding you have!

So far good! I am working with a wedding planner so that is helpful! It's a small wedding too so I'm not as stressed as I would be if it was going to be something bigger and more extravagant. How about you?

    Dear Haileigh,

Wedding planning has actually come to a sort of halt for us. The savings that we had has been depleted because we both work in Hospitality and have had serious financial issues over the last year. Now that I’m back in school, and Campbell is looking for more permanent work, our three years of consecutive planning has reared to an end. We have everything in place so that once our reserves for savings build again, we should be able to continue planning as normal. However, that all depends on when Campbell can secure another position.
Thanks for the inquiry! Not super excited about the wedding right now, in all honesty, haha...

I debated a wedding planner but kind of just took tasks one at a time and thankfully (so far) it’s worked out! I follow a lot of photographers and planners on Instagram who give advice so I just do things as I see them! I think it’s also good to enjoy the process too. I see so many brides dreading the planning and hate every second of it. It makes me so sad!

Oh Aubrianna, I’m so sorry to hear this. Keep your chin up ♥️ This time in life has been so challenging for so many and it breaks my heart. My fiancé and I have been together almost 10 years and are finally just taking the step of marriage for some of the same reasons. Not as severe as yours but I can relate on a similar level. I put myself through nursing school which took me 5 years and I’m the middle of that covid hit. I finally was able to finish school and now with time things are falling into place but it’s hard. Stay positive and just know your love is by your side no matter what! Without Brandon I couldn’t have gotten through the rocky road and one day I can’t wait to look back and talk about it as a memory as I’m sure it’s the same for you!
