I've always been told that invitations should go out 2 months before.

It is way too early for you to send invites out! Generally invites are sent 6-8 weeks before the wedding. People might forget if you send too early!

We’re getting married August 1, 2020 and we just finished sending out our save the dates. We’re aiming towards end of April/beginning of May to send out our invites with an rsvp date of July 3rd

According to this WeddingWire article (When to Send Wedding Invitations), for a destination wedding, couples should send their invitations out two to three months before the big day. If you’re planning a hometown wedding, they’re typically sent out six to eight weeks in advance. This is assuming you plan on sending out save the dates also

We're getting married August 21st 2020 and we sent ours in October because we wanted to lol

We're getting married August 22 this year and we sent out our save the dates in the last part of January and are sending out our invites in the middle of June with an August 1 RSVP date.
