Country Clubs as your wedding/reception Venue

FutureMrsD., on August 21, 2015 at 8:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

I've only looked @ Chapels w/reception hall attached, I was wondering if having a wedding at country clubs were almost the same price or is it more expensive to have a wedding/receptions from y'alls experience when looking at venues. They don't offer much information on their websites.

Also, do you need to be a member to have a wedding @ a country club? I've seen some country club's pop up on wedding-spot.com that quoted me a price that seems within my budget, so I was still wanting to see my fellow bride's opinion regarding that.

Mine was a golf club, but it was cheaper than many other venues. I did not need to be a member at all. Most venues/vendors won't put much info on their websites. Give them a call and have a meeting if one looks interesting to you.

I'm doing mine at a country club and I'm certainly not a member. Lots of country clubs use formal events as a second revenue stream (aside from member dues) so they can be booked by non-members. My venue was one of the most affordable of any I'd seen including restaurants and reception halls but with far more beautiful grounds,

Thank you guys! I guess I need to open up my venue search to include country clubs and check out what they have to offer!

Mine is a country club at a golf course. The price is reasonable and they are only charging an extra $500 to have the ceremony there too.

Most of them will allow non members. Where are you located?

I am marrying at a country club and no, most do not require you to be a member... not in the Chicago area anyway. I found the pricing to be about the same if not a tiny bit more expensive than banquet halls and other venues in my area, but I will gladly pay more for the beautiful views and atmosphere. Have you emailed them asking for their pricing packages? They should have an info packet to send you with all their offerings.

I'm getting married at a country club and I am not a member, it's in the Houston area. The price was much better for everything it includes than other venues I looked at.

I got married at a country club that was listed on a site as 'good choice for brides on a budget'. The best part was it was one-stop-shopping. The had tables, chairs, linens, catering and booze (if I'd wanted it). All I had to pick out was cake, flowers, DJ, etc.

We're getting married at a country club. We aren't members and actually found it to be a bit more affordable than other venues we were looking at. There was a lot more included in the price as well.

Our son's wedding was at our country club and his older brother's wedding next May will be there also. No, you do not have to be a member, but since we are members, we don't have to pay the 1500 rental fee, just meet the minimum catering costs for an event. As a member I can sponsor any event. I have done so once for a non-family wedding. You might check and see if anyone you know is a member and can sponsor you (avoid the venue rental fee).

For some country clubs, if you are not a member, then you would need to have a member "sponsor" you and your wedding details are brought before the board of directors for review and approval. Then your sponsor pays for your event via their membership account and you have to reimburse the sponsor. You really just need to check with venue you are interested in.

We just got married at a country club and we're non-members. Their prices weren't that bad. We had our ceremony there as well. The rental fee to have our ceremony/reception there was 1k and we had the venue pretty much all day 9am -11:30pm - We were able to get dressed there too. Go for it!

Our reception will be at a Country Club, and I'm so glad we did it this way as opposed to a hall. The CC has events all the time, and they know how to handle large crowds, stressed brides, etc. Even if it is more expensive, it can be worth it to not have to worry about things like ordering tablecloths and chairs, having catering in-house, and knowing that the on-site coordinator runs weddings every weekend.

My brother is having one at a country club. They didn't have to be a member but they did have to apply to have the wedding there and then the board reviewed the information. It took a month to get approval, and then on top of that a few weeks to get the contract. I'm sure they are all different. but sometimes there can be a process.

I'm in the Dallas area too! I've been looking at a lot of country clubs lately simply because of how much they include in their rentals - they actually seem more in line with my budget than a lot of other venues. I haven't run into any in the DFW area that require you to be a member, either. A lot of them throw in extras too, like a "honeymoon suite" for the night, DOC, etc.
