Costs to plan for

Paige, on August 21, 2019 at 8:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi all!

We are new to the planning process and trying to plan. The venue was more than we expected, and we werent willing to cut costs on the food or photographer. So.... What did you all pay for the various other aspects? I dont know what is high cost, low cost, or average for flowers, dress, tux, etc. TIA!

We went to Halberstadt's for my FH, paid $100 for a full suit and ulterations.
Also we went to walmarts photo section and did our personalized invites there ($14 for 20 of them).
And we are shopping clearance for my dress (Davids bridal has alot for about $200 and under)

    $250 fresh flowers(just bride bouquet & tables)
    $100 suit(sale+coupon, retail 3x times that)
    $1100 dress(discount, retail 3x times that)

Flowers are usually much more expensive, suits are somewhat near that price, dresses are usually around that price but our attire brands were outside that range, we had to combine coupons and shop around during sales to get it that price.

So generally 50-60% of your total budget goes towards venue/food/alcohol. We spent about $160 for my husband’s tux, I spent around $3k on my dress. For flowers we spent $275 for bridal bouquet, $100 per bridesmaid bouquet, $25 per boutonnière, $40 per corsage, and $160 per centerpiece.

Did you assemble the bouquets yourself with the fresh flowers? I am all about DIY when I can!

Fiftyflowers.com has pre assembled bouquets. I got 5 of them for my tables for $65 total. I can’t assemble flowers at all. The rest of my budget was paid for a bouquet at my local florist. I would have tried to do it myself but I wanted a certain look.

We got my dress for $100 on Amazon and her suit for $130 www.makeyourownjeans.com. You can cut wedding favors, go with cupcakes instead of a big cake, and trim down or cut flowers. Since our venue is mostly outside we saved a lot on decorations, check to see what decorations are included with your venue. We are also skipping a videographer. Good luck and happy planning.
