Hi everyone. My FH and I are trying to figure out how much should we spend on wedding invitations for 130 people? We have found 2 invitations to match our colors somehow which is black, silver, and white. But the invitations are 1 has silver and black, and the other has white and black. They are pretty much the same thing, they ae both elegant, but the cost of these invites are $356.00 this ncludes the invites, and response cards, not including shipping and handling. I am wondering do we really need to spend $356.00 dollars for invities that people will probably throw away and especially for 1 day? How mych did you spend for your invitations? I need some advice, being we're about to figure out how much to spend for invites. I believe we can cut the cost down.I just feel we can save some money...Am I wrong for feeling this way?

Spent around $80 for the whole wedding invitation

Designed my own wedding invitation on photoshop. Printed them on photo paper at costco. 100 - 7x6.5in size wedding invitation for a total cost of $20.00 which included envelopes. I also designed the enclosure cards to show where the reception was. 100 enclosure cards printed on photo paper for $13.00 - the size for them were 2x3 in. Designed and Printed the response cards on thick paper that i had. Total cost including envelopes for them $35.00.

Thank you cards i found at Michaels on clearance. 100 TY cards for $10.00

    Just have to be Resourceful!

If you are intrested in something inexpensive that looks classy you could have an invitation and inserts designed, then print them yourself from a digital image. White cardstock is the cheapest, print in black, and use a silver belly band. I and most stationers charge $45-$90 to create the unique design.

The best way to bring your wedding invitation cost down is to eliminate the need for enclosures like reception cards and response cards. Check out alternative invitation styles like seal and send wedding invitations and 3 for 1 invitations from Invitations by Dawn. We like seal and sends because they include everything you need in one piece of stationery. We also recommend 3 for 1 Invitations because you get all three pieces for one low price. Or, depending on the invitation you choose, you might be able to put the reception wording on the invitation itself (eliminating the need for a response card).

Also, check out some budget wedding invitation retailers with good reputations.

Ann's Bridal Bargains is a good option. The paper quality is surprisingly good and you get the benefit of professional printing.

Invitations have become as difficult and important as the search for The Dress! I've been quoted $650 for 100 people, not including the response cards, etc!! Found some on Zazzle -may go that route.
