Cost of Ring(s)?!

I was a teeny bit irritated bc my FH insisted on a gold wedding band. He is NOT a jewelry person. I have been with him for 5 and a half years and I've never seen him wear a single piece of jewelry. How much did you spend on your significant other's wedding band?

I got a good deal on his it’s $67, I think and mine was $66. But mine doesn’t have real diamonds in so that why mine is cheaper. He needs to have a nice ring the day of, it’s the day that he becomes part of you spiritually and emotionally, the ring symbolized with that.

My husband's wedding band cost around $700, which is pretty average. I have to say that I sort of agree with your FH here...there is a difference between being frugal and cheap. Most men don't really think of their wedding rings as jewelry, but as an extension of themselves. Prior to getting married, my husband had never worn a single piece of jewelry in his entire life (not even a watch). But his wedding band is something that is now a part of him and he hasn't ever taken it off. If your FH wants a simple gold wedding band, then I would get it for him.

I think gold is very appropriate for a wedding band. It's traditional, can be resized, and lasts a lifetime, unlike silicone. How would you feel if your FH insisted on getting you a pack of silicone bands? I would have seen that as a reflection of how he views our relationship and a disregard for my desires.

I paid $3200 for FH's custom ring of white gold and sapphires. I got major sticker shock, I had never expected a man's ring to cost so much. He spent that much on my ring, and the ring made him very happy, so it was worth it.
I'd avoid big box mall stores and stick with independent jewelers. You get better quality and lower prices.

Gold will last for years, silicone won’t. He may not wear jewelry, but a wedding band isn’t any ordinary jewelry. He should get whatever he will enjoy wearing for the rest of his life. I don’t understand why the desire for a quality piece is irritating when it’s something that will be worn for life, especially if your rings are made of metal.

I totally would have spent $1K on my hubby’s band. He wanted one from Etsy for less than $100.

DH has both a very nice Tungstun band for non-work activities, and the silicon bands for work/chores.

The silicon bands are a nice placeholder, but they don't look like real rings. They look like place holders. I can understand why he doesn't want those for everyday wear.

My husband is not a jewelry person either, but he was looking forward to selecting his wedding band ... and he was very picky about what he wanted. I was prepared to spend $1,000, but he picked a tungsten ring that cost about $400. Plus, I bought him a set of silicone rings from Amazon to wear at work.

Girl, if he doesn't wear his ring, I will have an attitude. He also lifts weights often and I cannot see him remembering to take the ring off each time before he lifts the weight.

Never thought about that. His dad wears a ring, but his mom doesn't. Their 50th anniversary is in 27 days.

Woah $1,100 is a lot to me! My FH lifts weights and I'm concerned he'll damage it

Yeah i guess I'm bad lol.
For clarification, I was irritated that he's insisting I spend a lot of money on something I believe he'll damage or end up not wearing. He lifts weights often.

*I honestly think my FH will lose it since he lifts weight. Not sure why the comparison between us was necessary... I guess I'm bad while you're good? And the thread question was never answered 😞

That's cool. My FH isn't a jewelry person. I suspect he'll damage it from lifting weights or stop wearing it and put it on a necklace.

Lol I admit I am very cheap. Objects have never fulfilled my happiness, so I think why bother spending so much money
