Cost of Hair and Makeup

I think it really depends on the area. In the weddings that I've been a bridesmaid in, I've paid around $60-$80 (not including tip) for hair, and around $40 for makeup. When I was doing research for hair/makeup artists for my wedding, I saw hair pricing range anywhere from $50-$120 per person.

I am in the chicagoland suburbs. I am getting quoted at $175 for my hair and $175 for my makeup. Then $95 for bridesmaids makeup and $95 for bridesmaids hair.

Just seems a bit much! $60-80 hair and $40 for makeup seem to be right on point. Now to just find someone! ha

Depends on the area. In general, they will charge more when it's a wedding rather than doing it for a birthday party. For my engagement photos I was charged $60 just for makeup only. When i asked for quotes in the same area for a wedding, the average price was $100 to $175.

Did you look on thumbtack yet? Have you considered doing your own hair & makeup or allowing a loved one to do it at an affordable price.

Mine is $150 each in a medium sized city in the South. For Chicago, what you were quoted seems right.

I live in the middle Georgia area and have been looking for hair and mua in the nearby area. Most of the prices for vendors nearer to Atlanta are around the $175 price point and can go upwards. I'm currently reaching out to a mua that charges $150 for the bride's makeup and that includes a trial run session.

I agree that it depends on your area. Another factor is how popular the vendor is and how long they've been in the business. Most newer vendors don't charge as much as the more popular ones because they're just starting out. Also keep in mind that a lot of vendors adjust their prices annually. So someone that may have charged $60 5 years ago, could be charging $150+ now.

That just seems like a way to take advantage of the situation. I am looking for an honest makeup artist that charges the same for the same amount of work whether it is for a trial or for the day of.

In my area, to get both together, it runs between $100 and $150 if I go to them. $250 or more for them to meet me at my venue to do the hair and make up.

My first trial I was charged $130 ($65 each) for hair and makeup. My 2nd trial was through a friend and I got a friend discount but she charges $80 on the day of for MOH/bridesmaids makeup and then $50 for hair.

It's really going to depend on where you are located. I paid $145 for my trial and $160 for my wedding day hair and make up, which included extensions.

My hair is costing about $60 and makeup another $50 so in total about $110 without a tip. It all depends on how much experience the stylist says and of course if travel fees will be tacked on as well. I hope this helps!

I'm in the Seattle area and I was quoted $500 for hair and makeup just for myself. We're having a second ceremony at a later date in the Boise, Idaho area and was quoted $300 for the same services there.

I got married this weekend in the northern panhandle of WV (40min outside of Pittsburgh), and my hair was $65 and make-up $85, plus tips. My trials were slightly cheaper, as the process the day of the wedding was much more thorough and detailed!
