Cost of flowers and repurposing

Nae, on June 23, 2022 at 6:00 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 16
Hi brides! Question, how much did you spend on flowers and was it worth it? Did you repurpose any of the flowers I.e Ceremony to reception? I plan on repurposing the flowers on the arch to our sweetheart table and bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces but would bouquet be too small for 60 in round table? Figured to add some candles too.

We have an all inclusive venue, but we are using the same flowers for both ceremony and reception. How many bridesmaids are you having?

Thats good! I am having 6 bridesmaids! To add on, we may have about 10 tables so was going to alternate with those and lanterns - the tables with lanterns will have some greenery and blooms inside of it

Oh perfect! I think that would be a great idea. I don’t think the bouquets will be too small. You’re having 6 people per table? If so, it’ll be intimate enough to have them on the tables. Also, since you only have 6 the option of alternating them with the greenery would look really good.

We spent $6k on flowers. My wedding was in summer 2019 and prices have gone way up so I imagine what we had would cost at least $7k now? Anyway, yes, we repurposed the flowers for parts of the reception. During cocktail hour, the florist's team repurposed our chuppah into an arch which went over the sweetheart table, and we also had my bouquet on the sweetheart table. We had the bridesmaids' bouquets on a different table near the entrance, I think the table with the favors but I don't remember for sure. Actually they might have been at a table near the bar, but they were definitely repurposed. We had separate centerpieces for the round tables (the bouquets would have been much too small and there wouldn't have been enough anyway). I personally think our flowers were worth it! If you're on a tight budget, my advice would be to go all out on YOUR bouquet, because let's face it--that bouquet will be in nearly every formal photo you take, and cut corners in other places.

It’s insane how much flowers are! But yes I agreed on the bride bouquet! We love succulents so adding some of those as well. I love your locations for the bouquets too. Thanks for replying!!

We spent $500 on flowers, granted we did our own with Sola Wood Flowers so we didn't have to pay for labor as we did all the work ourselves.

$500 in wood flowers got us, 8 bouquets including my own, 11 boutineers, 2 corsages and centerpieces, with some left over to place on my cake for decoration.

We're not repurposing during the wedding, but I will be taking some of my flowers from my bouquet and putting them in our card box to display in our house afterwards.

We repurposed the bridesmaid bouquets for reception centerpieces and it looked great!! We also added a few tiny vases with a few stems on the table and candles to make it look fuller.

We spent about $1,600 for flowers and are repurposing our ceremony flowers for the reception. I will use my bouquet as the centerpiece for the sweetheart table. We got buckets of flowers and are DIYing bud vases for the centerpieces for the rest of the tables. About 3-5 bud vases per table with 1-5 stems per vase depending on the size. I have two family members putting together the bud vases and should take them no more than two hours the morning of.

We spent $5k for florals in summer 2021 and it was well worth it. We used decor and music to personalize our wedding. We created a sexy jungle with tropical leaves and florals as this was our pandemic hobby. Not much was repurposed as we donated our 2 arrangements to the Church.

A 60" round for 8 guests will have a large center space. I would plot a table on your floor and mark the area with charger, plates, water and wine glasses, bread plate, etc per your venue's offerings. I would cluster your pieces to take up space. Some ideas: you can put the bouquet in vase surrounded by greenery and candles. Or square mirror, candles, bouquet. Or lay down bouquet with confetti. Or group your succulents on different levels grouping in 3-5. If you place a cloth down, you will hide whatever boxes or shelves underneath and it will provide a space. A different color runner or colored scarf/ square will also ground your centerpiece. You could also go fake bridesmaids bouquet and focus budget on the centerpieces if you do not want to diy. Lanterns are also very pretty. Good luck.

I've seen a lot of people who use vases with flowers for the ceremony aisle and then they take it and use as decor or centerpieces for the reception later. it's really smart - it's using the same decor. however something like that you do have to be mindful of needing time in between for set up then

I can't remember how much I spent on my first wedding, but I thought it was worth it. I asked the wedding planner to give as much of them away as she could. I think she ended up donating them/giving them to the vendors.

We spent a bit over $3,000, which doesn’t include centerpieces because we DIY’ed those. I live in a city, so wedding costs here tend to be higher. We did repurpose the bridesmaids’ bouquets on the head table and put greenery lining it. Unfortunately we were not allowed to repurpose the church flowers because I got married at a Catholic Church that requires you to donate the flowers to them.
While DIY’ing the centerpieces did save us some money, I’ll tell you it ended up being a lot of work for my family on the day of (especially if you have picky parents like I do that wanted to be at the venue beforehand to make sure the coordinator got it right). Having the florist do it might cost more, but they come pick it all up at the end of the night and your family can relax.

We love flowers but didn't have a big budget. So we did things like this:

-Ordered bouquet for myself and 2 bridesmaids from florist, +/- 150

-The morning before the wedding, raided all the supermarkets and discount stores and purchased all the colour-appropriate flowers for approx 400 (100 small bouquets)

-purchased a flower arch online and some floral foam, watched some youtube tutorials

-built the flower arch the morning before and filled some tubs with the rest

-for the reception, repurposed the tubs of flowers from the ceremony and also had small house plants on the tables which doubled up as favours for the guests

In total, we spent about 600 USD on flowers and had plenty Smiley smile

It is possible to have nice flowers on a lower budget.
