Correct wording for transportation info on invite? HELP!

Emily, on February 3, 2014 at 10:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

Ok, so my venue is about 30 minutes from Austin, and I'm having guests stay in Austin due to the limited amount of hotel near the venue. We WILL be providing transportation in the form of charter buses, but we need a head count and I don't want every single person to feel obligated to take the bus.

So:

On my info card, how can I concisely (not much room) mention the shuttle, without inviting all 300 people to use it, thus leading to the need for many more buses? Something about a limited number of seats Avaliable for guests? I don't want to come across as rude! (The RSVP card will have a place to indicate if they'd like to utilize the transportation)

I think that just having it on the RSVP card is perfect, assuming it will say something like

____ will utilize shuttle from Marriott

    Or something like that?

I like what Kate said. I don't think saying anything about a limited number of seats is appropriate. There are a lot of questions I writes have if I saw that.

I dont know how formal your wedding is, but you could word it to be something about "having a shuttle as a designated driver" (if you are having alcohol) and then maybe only people who have a sober driver will opt out of taking your shuttle. So i'm just throwing that idea out there, of course you would have to find a classy way to word it, or maybe google a cute 2 or 3 sentence poem for not drinking and driving.

Thanks y'all! That's all really helpful. The wedding is pretty formal, but I still think we could come up with something classy to write. I like the response about just having it on the RSVP. If you were to see that, would you automatically assume that you should take the shuttle? Im going to have info on my wedding website, but I've recently learned that no one likes to utilize that....ugh.

No ... people are going to drive themselves if that's what they want. i would really only expect people who are staying at the hotel to use the shuttle. people don't like to be bused around just for the sake of being bused around and will understand what a hotel shuttle is.
