Coronavirus thoughts?

Samantha, on March 13, 2020 at 4:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I don’t know what to do, my anxiety is absolutely peaking even thinking about postponing my wedding due to the Coronavirus. My wedding is 04.04.2020 in Key West. Only about 40 guests. 10 from Florida and 30 from the Midwest. Fiancé and I are from the Midwest. But they just announced that we are now under a National State of Emergency. We were waiting to see if things could clear up some but it looks like it’s not. I’m heart broken. Is anyone else still going through with their wedding in April, or is everyone else postponing?

April 25th here. We have yet to make a decision but our wedding is supposed to be in Chicago and they just banned gatherings of more than 250 people until May. We invited 350. Obviously we may end up with only 250 and be fine, but we also worry about our older relatives. If anything, we are going to do a small ceremony on the 25th and then have the big reception at a later time. It’s just so stressful and devastating. We’ve all been planning for so long.

April 4th here. We made a list of folks that had to be there for us to go forward, and top of that list was his mother. But she is severely immunocompromised and just got out of the er - we need her to stay put. It was a tough call, but we figured no one would be comfortable or able to enjoy themselves even if we did go ahead, and that's a lot of risk for everyone. So we made that call for ourselves. Deep breaths! We'll get through this. Ironically we ended up picking our original date with all of our original plans, so it was an good compromise.

April 7th here. Only 15 guests but we're flying to Florida for a destination wedding. As of right now we're going as planned but at the rate everything is shutting down I'm starting to get stressed.
Our schools are shut down until April 13th and my company is making plans to have us all work remotely. I guess worst case scenario we could go to the courthouse though. No matter what we're getting married.
    Good luck!

Us too. We are going Monday to get a married license in the county we live in just in case we can’t go to Florida due to shut downs. No matter what we want to get married that day by paper at least. Rather have it and not use it, then have the day come with no license at all.

My wedding was supposed to be next weekend. So close, only a week away. But today we had to make the call to postpone after emotional turmoil. I’m still a wreck, having to break the news over and over again to loved ones breaks my heart every time.

Thinking of you, and hope you can find/make light in this dark situation. We plan on still having a small, intimate ceremony and having a proper celebration towards the end of the year. Anyone else still planning on a small ceremony?

If we have to postpone I think I would just wear my bridal shower outfit (it’s a white dress, haven’t got to use it yet either 😢) and have our parents over when we sign a marriage license from our home county. No ceremony. I want the one I planned for over 11 months to be my only ceremony. But that’s just my preference. Fiancé is trying to be positive that we still might be able to go. But I know the chances are going slimmer each day.

I’m so sorry you have to go through this too. I know there is a lot of us this is affecting (wedding wise) and never in a million year would I have thought a worldwide pandemic might postpone my wedding.

I wish you the best of luck with it all as well. This is crazy this is happening. I have no clue when our new wedding date will be if we postpone.
