Coronavirus Pain

Anna, on March 13, 2020 at 6:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Our wedding is on 28 March, in just 2 weeks. We live in Mexico and the wedding is in Oaxaca. There are 100 guests and around half are flying in from the UK, Spain, Portugal, the US, Australia, Honduras and Sri Lanka. The other half live in Mexico. 70% of the wedding is paid for, and there is no such thing as wedding insurance in Mexico. If we cancel, we probably won’t be able to afford to pay for it again. This is our one shot at our dream day. So far mexico has not closed its borders and is not planning to do so. But who knows what may change over the coming days.. things change hourly with this coronavirus. I’m beyond stressed and barely sleeping. I cannot believe what is happening. The situation is just awful.

I am so sorry Smiley sad I would say at this point continue on as you have because it does sound like you can’t cancel and whomever attends and can come, have fun with them there. It’ll still be a dream wedding because it’s you and your spouse still celebrating together

Yes, it’s hard to know what to do. I’m british and if travel restrictions are put in place it will be my family that can’t attend. I just can’t imagine getting married without my parents and sister there. We’re taking it day by day and seeing how things pan out. But it’s sooooo difficult to stay calm!

Tell me about it. I have cried everyday for the last week or so. Some of my family from Mexico were still going to brave flying to L.A. but I don't even know what to think about that now. I hope you still get to have your wedding

I'm getting married April 17th and today my two tias and abuelita confirmed that unless they close the borders they are still flying in this Wednesday. I even called to tell them to stay home today but my family is a stubborn bunch. Once they made up their minds that was it, not that I didn't want them here but it had to be said once. They are also all coming for my other Tia's 60th birthday, not just me. One of the tia's flies back to Mexico 5 days later and will travel back for my wedding in April. My other tia and abuelita are staying the whole time.
