Coronavirus Madness

With all this panic, a lot of people are getting laid off, me included. Just found out yesterday until further notice. I filed a claim with unemployment for the time being so hopefully that works in my favor. Unfortunately, with that happening, FH and I decided that we will cancel our reception. Not because of the virus but because we don't know how long I'll be out of a job, he barely makes anything at his and no telling how this unemployment will play out.

We're just not sure if we'll be able to catch up on payments so we rather cut our losses now before it gets too out of hand and we lose more money like we did when we planned our last wedding We're just going to stick with our elopement ceremony and plan for a reception once things are more financially stable.....again 😒 Its always something and I just can't help but feel the universe is telling us we're not meant to have a wedding or something.

Who else is partially or fully cancelling their wedding? Are you postponing or changing plans?

My wedding is on April 25, 2020 and I have no plans to cancel. Our wedding is rather small at 75 people and we will advise people who are sick to stay home but we don't see a reason to cancel at this time.

My wedding is in July and hopefully it settles down by then. If it doesn’t then I’ve decided that my fiancé and I will just get married in the court and have a reception later.

Congrats. That's lucky! A lot of people are in areas that are basically shutting down everything or won't allow gathering over 25 or 50 people.

Completely understandable. Well fingers crossed things get settled by then. If not, lord only knows how things would be if this is still going on.

Even if we had wanted to go ahead without key family, we would have been forced to shut down with the Dallas ordnance against events with more than 20 people. I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this, especially when we're already dealing with so much uncertainty. Sending good vibes your way that things get better!

I think you and I are in the same industry. I've been at home for the past 2 weeks trying to apply, but COVID is deterring places from hiring. Stay strong, all of this will hopefully pass...

It's ridiculous! I work for Caesars Entertainment at a box office in one of the casinos. All of our artists have cancelled their shows so that leaves us with no tickets to sell. Just like everything else, I'm really hoping this thing blows over and FAST! On the bright side though, at least our ceremony will still happen so it's not a full cancellation.

My contract ended right before the wedding, which was great because coming home I had time to clean the house and work on my own things. After a week I started looking for work again, but it's been stressful. I went to 2 interviews last week and they both told me they were interested, but it was all up in the air because production houses are closing.

I'm really glad that I have my part time job as an Instructor that I can still do from home, and my husband has to go to work because clients still want their work done so he has to go in.

    I'm hoping this ends soon!!!

Yea that's very fortunate. My FH still has his part time job as of right now and in the meantime I filed for unemployment so we'll see if that works out.

It's good that he has a job! And you guys have each other and are working through this time together. I think I would be a ball of stress if my husband didn't have a job. I'm hoping things turn around in the coming weeks, crossing my fingers

Yea. Definitely easier to have someone to help you through it all. I was definitely a ball of stress beforehand too cause my FH didn't have a job for awhile and so we ended up having to cancel our last wedding. Now this.

Please reconsider - it stinks, we just moved ours, but trust that the CDC guidance is for a reason.

Ellen, please don't. As I clearly stated we are not canceling our wedding at this time.

I’m going to, and I don’t feel bad about it. This is so frustrating - we just rescheduled our wedding, and I have no issues suggesting others do the same. None of us deserve a big wedding more than we need to think of the health and welfare of the greater good.

Yes, it sucks, but it’s the right thing to do.

The upside to all of this is that both of you are healthy and not in the hospital. I’m trying to stay positive amidst my lack of work and am trying to do other things to keep busy. Today isn’t a great example because I feel like all I did was stock up on more food. But instead of watching TV, instead I’m playing with the dogs or cooking dinner, or organizing the house since it’s a good time to do it now. Although I feel like I’ve only accomplished one thing in my to do list today 😑

Yea I get it. Definitely grateful we're both still healthy. I just know with me being laid off until further notice, I'm gonna be bored out of my mind.

How stressful Smiley sad As of right now we have no answers on what is going to happen. My Job don't even know what they are going to do they are just taking it day by day.
