Corona Wedding Ceremony/ Elopement

Apryl, on April 11, 2020 at 10:28 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

Are any other brides deciding to still have small ceremonies now and a large reception when all of this clears up?

What are your plans for making the ceremony special? Will it be at home, church, outdoors?

I'd love to hear your ideas.

My fiance and I are playing it by ear, for June, because all of our vendors are paid in full. Our original date was March 21st, so we already postponed once. If June doesn't work out, we will have a small ceremony with just our officiant, and maybe my dad.

We had a small ceremony with my now hubby's best friend being our officiant on our original date. It was super small, and I dressed up in a dress I got off of poshmark and my rehearsal dinner heels. My hubby wore his interview suit. It was not what we expected - we set up a zoom for our families and stood in the door while his friend did the vows so he wouldn't have to get too close. And we don't have many pictures either for the same reason! But it was still very us, and we plan on having the bigger ceremony in August.

We're still waiting to see if we have to postpone or not, but that is our plan if we have to. We're going to drive to FH's grandfather and stand out in the yard while he officiates, and FH's parents/brothers stand nearby to witness and stream the service to my family (my family all lives on the opposite side of the country).

    Hi Apryl,

I think this is a great idea! I'm so sorry you may have to change your plans. Stay positive and hang in there!! You've bought yourself a lot more time and hopefully more peace of mind!

    Smiley heart

To add to my other post, if we do postpone, I would wear my more casual, little white bachelorette dress instead of my wedding dress and FH would wear one of his own suits.

For the postponed ceremony, we would use EVERYTHING we previously planned on. A hired officiant, flowers, his fancy suit, my wedding dress, hair/make up, photog, DJ, etc. I think keeping the smaller ceremony casual and the postponed event fancy will be our way of making the ceremony/party with everyone still feel special.
