Coordinating suits to blue bridesmaid dress

Desiree, on July 23, 2020 at 7:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
Hi! Getting married in OBX in May 2021! The girls are wearing David’s Bridal’s dusty blue color. My fiancé really want to wear blue but he really wants light blue. I’d prefer more of a bright blue, but I’m trying to be fair and at least find a “light blue” suit we can consider.

Has anyone seen a wedding party where both the bridesmaids and groomsmen are in a light/dusty blue? Adding a picture of the bridesmaid swatch for reference! Thanks in advance. 💙Coordinating suits to blue bridesmaid dress 1

I haven't seen where the groomsmen full suit is dusty blue, but something like the picture below would be really pretty! For the ties to be the same color!

    Hi Yasmine!

Thank you for responding! I personally LOVE this look! I honestly think we’ll end up going with suits closer to these anyways. It would look so much better contrasting with the sand. 🥰 I even told him maybe he can wear a lighter colored suit and then have the groomsmen in a darker blue to mesh better with the girls? Not sure why he’s even being picky - he’s colorblind and can’t tell the difference between most colors anyway!

I agree with the previous comment - a navy blue suit would pair well with the bridesmaids dress color! If your fiance has his heart set on light blue suits, have the bridesmaids purchased their dresses yet? If not, the bridesmaids could switch to a new color? I have not seen both bridesmaids and groomsmen wearing the same color, and I'm having issues finding an example image online, so I don't know how it would look.

    Hi Lisa! Thanks for responding!

Yes the bridesmaids bought their dresses. I couldn’t find anything online either which is why I put the feelers out here. He’s also considering having the groomsmen just wear pants and a long sleeve white shirt - for more of a casual beach look. So, I think he’ll eventually break - just trying to find something that may be a good reference!

Maybe a light blue linen suit? It looks more modern (not so 1970s), plus it adds a little texture

If he wore something like this, he could still do the idea of the guys wearing the same pants as him with just a white dress shirt & tie. Then they would still coordinate, and he would stand out.

I also think that navy suits with light blue ties would look great on the groomsmen opposite the bridesmaids in dusty blue! 💙

Here's another inspiration picture with the whole wedding party in blues:

The guys would look really nice in navy blue, or grey would be so pretty!! I added this first picture just for reference... the bridal party all have the same color on. Personally I prefer more of a complimenting look, so each person kind of stands out more. in this photo the guys and girls kind of blend in together.

I agree with what the other people said about navy suits, but in case you're still interested, here is a link to light blue tuxedos from the black tux.

I'm not sure if their showrooms have reopened, but you can order online and they'll send you a swatch that you can compare to your bridesmaid dress swatch if you ask for one.
I think it's funny that your fiancè is concerned about it even though he's color blind.Mine is wearing a green tux, his groomsmen are wearing grey suits, and my bridespeople will be in dark blue. We're using ties and boutoniere ribbons to help them all mesh together. So, there are different ways to do this. Also, I have seen images of the wedding party all wearing one color, but they've always been wearing black, so I don't know how helpful that example is, but if you Google black bridesmaid dresses with black suits you will find some.

Linen always looks good in the catalog photos but it gets SO wrinkly. Just look at linen and it gets wrinkly. If it’s extremely hot and/or a beach wedding this is a good casual option, but I would personally prefer some of the other ideas like a coordinating grey or navy blue.
