Is it in your contract that you can have a DJ at the reception venue?

I hate to think the worst, but it almost sounds as though they know they are doing something wrong, and are trying to word it in a way that doesn’t make them look guilty. If you have other emails though, that blatantly state you could have a DJ, then I think you definitely have a leg to stand on when it comes to demanding a refund. A DJ is a huge part of a wedding reception, and all reception venues know this.

The last post sounds like the venue rep was willing to discuss the requirements if you wanted to include additional space for a DJ. If you responded that you approve doing what is needed, they should proceed on that agreement. I would hope that even in the case of a misunderstanding (on either side) that they could work out a way to keep the DJ as part of the reception.

"Contrary to the contract" makes it sound like even they admitted to allowing a dj and are now renege on the agreed upon contract.


I would send them another email asking how they plan on fixing this for you. Otherwise you may need legal help.
