Contacts or glasses

I'm thinking of doing contacts for the wedding but I typically do not wear any, just my glasses. Do glasses ruin the look, ie the makeup not being showed off as well? If I am to get contacts how far in advance should I get an exam for them and when should I start wearing them to get my eyes...

If I am to get contacts how far in advance should I get an exam for them and when should I start wearing them to get my eyes accustomed to them? Below is a picture with me with my glasses on..

I will be wearing my glasses. A good photographer can help with glare.... But we (myself and FH) agreed that I don't look like myself without glasses.

I wear my glasses to work and then contacts to the gym/going out. I'd say if you can find some that feel comfortable, I'd get them. I know a photographer can help with glare but I think glasses can detract from your face, even if they're beautiful glasses!

When you get your contact exam just ask for samples. I do not wear contacts but wanted them just for my wedding day. They ended up giving me ten pairs of contacts for free! I was up front about only getting my contact exam for my wedding day and my eye doctor was awesome. I definitely recommend practice wearing them before the wedding to see how long your eyes can take it, if you're not used to them!

@Shannon - I have toric lenses for astigmatism as well. The $90 per lens per eye is likely for a BOX. So it's like a 90 day supply. That's about what I pay when I get them. Each eye has a different prescription, so I always have to buy no less than two boxes (one for each). And it's usually around the $190 mark. This is for daily lenses, which are usually more expensive than weeklies or longer.

Mine are for astigmatism too. Both eyes used to be the same prescription so I would just buy one box at a time. One box is six lenses so that's good for three months (if both eyes are the same) because you change your lenses monthly. Mine are $83 per box. Now my eyes are different prescriptions so it gets pricy but they do come with six lenses so now each box lasts six months. Your prescription is good for one year so if funds are tight you can always buy a box, or boxes if you require two different prescriptions, here or there until your year is up. If you don't have astigmatism then boxes are like half of that price. When I first started wearing contacts 12 years ago I didn't need astigmatism ones.

So glad you posted this! I'm planning on getting contacts for my wedding as well and didn't realize that I should be getting on that like right away. I planned on doing it a couple months before the wedding. Guess I should make an appointment now haha

I've seen plenty of women who look gorgeous in glasses, fully dolled up in make-up and such; and the glasses never impeded the overall look (in some cases the glasses even complimented the look). Having said that, I personally wear contacts regularly; and one of the (many) reasons, is because I have pretty closes-set eyes (not very large or wide), and I feel like glasses hide them, and do not accentuate them nicely, especially when I'm dressed up (with make-up on) for something formal. So I think it can very by person, especially depending on facial/bone structure and the shape of the eye. I say go with what you are comfortable in, and feel beautiful in. (If you've never worn contacts, you may not like them)
