Contacts or glasses

Dee, on September 14, 2016 at 10:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 28

I'm thinking of doing contacts for the wedding but I typically do not wear any, just my glasses. Do glasses ruin the look, ie the makeup not being showed off as well? If I am to get contacts how far in advance should I get an exam for them and when should I start wearing them to get my eyes accustomed to them? Below is a picture with me with my glasses on..

If your wedding is next June and you want to try contacts, go now. Like, tomorrow. This week. It took me a few months to really get adjusted to them.

I am a glasses-wearer and I will be wearing contacts the day of. However, this is a really personal choice. I can think of a couple brides here (Spazzy and Pancakes jump to mind) who wore glasses on their wedding days and looked amazeballs. My glasses are shit at the moment so I would not feel comfortable walking down the aisle wearing them.

My mom came up with a kinda idea, to just take my glasses off for pictures. Is that okay?

My friend got married last year and she had a problem with her eyes where she couldn't wear contacts. All of us bridesmaids ended up wearing glasses with her out of solidarity and it ended up being SO cute!

You have beautiful eyes I would definitely ditch the glasses. I wear acuvue oasys. I tried a few different brands and I think they're most comfortable. I can't even tell they're in. They might have your prescription in stock actually but if you need to order them they only take a few days maybe a week to come in. Good luck

I don't wear contacts and won't for my wedding. I don't look like myself without glasses. That being said, however you feel most comfortable is fine!

Its your personal preference but I've seen lots of people wear their glasses and look stunning. For the makeup just go a little bit darker eyeliner and mascara and use a highlight to make your eyes pop!

It's truly a personal preference. I have glasses but didn't start wearing them till a year ago. I decided to not wear them for the wedding. Just like @RATR said there have been some amazing BAMs shared recently with ladies wearing their glasses. Truly they looking stunning.

I've been going back and forth whether or not I should wear mine. I've never worn contacts in my life, but I'm really getting annoyed with my glasses lately.

Contacts take a little while to get use to! I had to try a few different kinds before I found some that I liked. I would go as soon as possible to get them and start trying them out.

If you always wear glasses then there is nothing wrong with wearing them on your wedding day. You want to look like yourself Smiley smile

I'll look into contacts and see if I find any that aren't as harsh to the eyes. I like myself better without the glasses.

I have astigmatism and need torque lenses. Last time i discussed contacts with my eye doctor i was told it would be $90 per lens per eye . Smiley sad This has been a concern of mine as well because i want to be able to see everything! My fiance and i decided to check into Lasik. I hope I'm a good candidate!

I like you in glasses! I think you want to be yourself. If you and your FH love the glasses I say wear them.

I'm wearing contacts but I plan to wear them for a few months leading up to my wedding so my FH can get used to seeing me without glasses

I wouldn't wear glasses for everything but the pictures because that nose piece indent can be difficult to photoshop out. I would pick one or the other and go with it the whole time.

I've worn contacts for 17 years and it can take a little while to get used to them - I'd be off to the optician fairly soon if I were you.

Why does your "best self" mean no glasses? I personally wear glasses so thick that my depth perception is shot and I wear contacts daily it's how im used to seeing myself

just a note...if you do take them off for the pictures, the expression on your face will look odd and unfocused when you're looking at the photographer because you won't see his face and don't have your vision focused on anything. take a few practice shots and you'll see what I mean

I have a corneal scar so I can't war contracts even though I wore them for years. I went blind for my ceremony and wore glasses for some pics around the ship. I prefer the ones in glasses actually.

@Judi that's not true for everyone. I have horrible vision, but going blind for the ceremony and part of the reception didn't interfere with my photos. I do like the ones in glasses better but that's purely personal preference.
