Cons of Airbrushed Makeup?

Kasey, on July 10, 2015 at 7:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Besides the increased cost, can anyone advise the cons of airbrushed makeup (if any) vs. traditional makeup?

All but one makeup artist I have contacted automatically included airbrushing in the pricing for the bride and offered an airbrush upgrade option for the bridesmaids/mothers/etc. When the non-airbrushing artist was asked about the availability of this service he noted that, "Airbrushing is "out" these days!"

I'm not a heavy makeup wearer on a daily basis (or ever, really) so I would love to hear some opinions!

As a non-makeup wearer myself, I can't tell you a single con about my experience with airbrush. I know, that's the opposite of your question Smiley winking I just loved it SO much! It lasted all day, felt light on my skin, gave me an even tone, came off easily, and it didn't make me break out.

I don't have a single con! I loved when I had mine airbrushed for engagement pictures. Some people say it doesn't look natural but I don't think that's true at all.

Thanks everyone! I kind of got the impression that the vendor was using the "airbrush is out" comment as an excuse because he doesn't have the tools/experience.

I've only had my trial so far, but I'd say that traditional makeup won't hold up as well to a whole day of sweating / crying / dancing. (I see you're getting married in Nov, so hopefully not too much sweating lol). I've had a few friends who had traditional makeup say they wish they had gone with airbrush because they definitely didn't look as good in their photos toward the end of the night. That might not really matter to you, or maybe you're not planning on dancing much, but I think airbrush is certainly better for an "active" bride!

Airbrushing is not great if you have a lot of wrinkles on your face, b/c the makeup can settle in the lines if it is nor applied correctly-- but this is really only an issue for older women, and it can be avoided when the MUA knows what they are doing. Otherwise, I agree that the MUA doesn't offer it b/c he doesn't know how to do it. . .

I had traditional makeup applied for our engagement pictures and it lasted all day outside in 103° Arizona sun, and into the next morning. I think either way you choose.... A good makeup artists work well look good and last.

I didn't like it when I had it. I thought it felt thick and looked strange on me. I wear very little powder foundation. I also have oily skin and am prone to breaking out. I felt like it showed all of my imperfections x10. Shortly after applying I had to wipe it off and just used my bare minerals.

I was a BM and we didn't have trials.
