**CONCLUSION**

ChampagneDream, on July 5, 2014 at 11:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 32

After a week long ordeal with my FILs trying to completely revamp our wedding we have finally come to a solution that makes us all happy.

FMIL wanted to integrate the Chinese Tea Ceremony into our American ceremony and add 89 adults and 23 kids to our list. We VETO'd that pretty much right away! In hopes of satisfying her in some way we've decided to allow her to invite a few additional people to the wedding who hadn't made the original list. She is planning a separate tea ceremony and can invite the whole world as far as I'm concerned.

So after comparing lists this evening and making some additions... our list has come to a total of 101. We were planning on 75 so (with some declines) I'm sure we will be close.

YES!! EVERYONE IS HAPPY!! YAY! (Is it June 8th yet?? JKJK)

Congrats on satisfying everyone including yourself. I am sure it wasn't easy. Hope everything else run smoothly for you.

P.S. Champagne, I had a dream about a tea ceremony at my wedding in which I had big comfortable red pillows for FH and I to kneel on. In my dream, I was thinking thank goodness I have these pillows otherwise my knee wouldn't be able to take it. So in case you didn't think of it, consider adding a set of red pillows to your to buy list.

We will definitely be having the red pillows. I'm dreading the up and down. Oh the things we do for our men!! My knees hurt already.

Have you decided you're having one?

I can honestly say, that as weddings go it sounds absolutely beautiful! Family is so much help...and can be conflicting. Staying focused and breathing regularly helps. I am planning my second wedding...it is far less complicated. LOL.

It makes me happy. I love the Chinese culture. The tea tradition is so beautiful and every day I learn something new about the culture. I'm learning to speak also! Smiley smile scary! Haha do you and FH speak a Chinese dialect? I'm so happy to have you here to talk to!!

Glad it worked out! And the funny thing is, my family is Taiwanese/Chinese, and no one in my extended family did any sort of tea ceremony or traditional type of wedding at all. A friend of mine who is half-Chinese and married a Jewish man had a tea ceremony integrated into her Jewish-American wedding, but that is the only wedding I've ever been to that had a tea ceremony. Best wishes and good luck with the rest of your wedding planning!

Haha Champagne, same here I am so happy to have you to talk to. I was on WW earlier answering your post and FH said to me "why are you on WW, I thought you have work to do?". I responded with I have to answer Champagne, she is my girl Smiley smile LOL

I speak one dialect really well (Cantonese) and can understand some of two other dialects but can't speak it well and for FH...well he is very Americanized.

Happy you found a great compromise. I also have a Tea Ceremony early on in my day so I've been researching what I want there. Smiley laugh

Haha you gotta teach him a little! My FH family is super traditional so I got the lecture from him mom about teaching the kids the language. I have tons of friends who speak canto ( and FH can speak some) but we speak teo chew . And we taught the dogs to take commands in mandarin. Lol were trying to use more and more chimes in the house, but sometimes it's easier for me to just say it in English! Haha

Where do you guys live? Were in lancaster pa so it's a good 1.5 hour drive for good Chinese food (other than his mothers place lol).
