Commitment Ceremony

ArizonaDreaming, on May 16, 2020 at 12:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 1

I woke up with our wedding heavily in my mind. We called it off earlier this year due to several reasons. We are still together and very happy. The only reason we are not moving forward at this point boils down to health insurance. We are a larger family and if we get married, we would no longer qualify for affordable health insurance (YAY on the US healthcare system!). My son is Autistic and I have medications I need. Medications are manageable in terms of pricing thanks to GoodRX, but the doctors my son and I see are outrageous. We are talking about doing a commitment ceremony. We have a child together and 3 others from previous relationships. We are buying a house next year (fingers crossed) and currently have assets together. We have been together almost 3.5 years. We are talking about having a commitment ceremony to celebrate the life we have built together.

Is anyone else doing a commitment ceremony? What are your reasons, if you are comfortable with sharing?

Hi ArizonaDreaming! I'm so happy to hear you and your family are doing well!! ❤️

Healthcare costs are no joke, so I definitely understand your reasoning! I think you can absolutely do a really moving unity / commitment ceremony with touching and personal elements.

Here a few other discussions I've been able to find where couples are thinking about doing a commitment ceremony so you can see their thought process as well:

    Commitment Ceremony due to Covid-19

    Commitment ceremony for dying grandmother
