Combining Wiccan and Christian? Ceremony Help

Boardgamegeek27, on November 24, 2017 at 10:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

I'm Wiccan and he is generic Christian (ex catholic, has distanced self from church and says he is Christian now). Both of us support one another's spirituality 100%, so this isn't a struggle over it. But, we really want to combine the two in our ceremony somehow. We are absolutely having a Handfasting ceremony, but for the rest of the wording we are just brainstorming at this point. I was just curious if anyone on here as combined the two or has resources? We have awhile till official planning, but it's something we are both excited about and want to research.

Thank you in advanced Smiley smile

An officiant should be able to help you with this when you're ready to hire one. You could start out by researching officiants that are familiar with Wiccan customs and traditions.

Oh absolutely! I was just wondering if there were any Wiccan peeps on here who could offer some advice!

I was Wiccan for a while, but came back to the Catholic Church. I think this will depend on what you're both comfortable with. Maybe have a reading from the Bible that you both like and can agree on (1 Corinthians 13 is a good one) and do the hand-fasting ceremony.

A UU pastor or a Celebrant Foundation officiant (they are here) should be able to blend these gracefully.

There are dozens of handfasting ceremonies online; weirdly enough, I hadn't done one for over a year and last month I did four. One included the tartan of the groom's family; one included a strip of red brocade for the bride's family, and one included a strip made from the bride's deceased father's favorite tie.

I once combined Jewish & Buddhist elements and everyone was happy. A professional officiant should be able to do this for you, Payton.
