Combined Wedding Shower?

Antonia, on October 30, 2019 at 1:58 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 9

Has anyone done a combined wedding shower (bride and groom together)? How was the outcome and was it more of a hassle rather than just a bridal shower? I only have 3 or 4 people that would be invited if I just did a bridal compared to 40-50 people if we did combined since everyone would be from FH's side.

If you want a bridal shower, you don't have to keep the guest list to just your side. Any women invited to the wedding can be invited, I plan on inviting most female relatives on FH's side.

The thing is I don't know the rest of the women invited since they are all the wives of coworkers on FH's side and his family lives 4 hours away in New York.

We had two couples showers. I go to more couples showers than bridal showers nowadays.

My mom threw a Jack and Jill for us. It was mostly my family and a few friends (probably 30 people all together). His family isn't super involved in our lives and we don't have a ton of friends lol.

We did our wedding shower this past 10/5!(wedding is 12/14/19) I posted a discussion with picture if you go to my profile. We wanted to do a joint wedding shower so that our family could meet for the first time. We have a small wedding of only 46 guest. We invited everyone who was invited to the wedding and majority showed! It was a very fun day with family, food and games! We still played a bunch of bridal shower games and I had prizes to give out. We didn't want any gift since the wedding was soon and we just wanted everyone to meet. But a few guest did give us little gifts which was sweet. There's nothing wrong with combining the shower. I even threw cake in my FH face lol

My husband and I had a couples shower instead of a bridal shower which also meant that the guests were men and women. We had the best time and I wouldn't have changed it for anything. As far as planning, I did do some of it because my MOH is in a different state but for the most part, her, my mom and MIL did all the important stuff. We had a few games, gifts, food and fun! I absolutely recommend it.

I would be doing all the planning myself since my MOH is an L&D nurse and has crazy hours, my other bridesmaids live an hour away and I had to uninvite my mother due to too much drama surrounding her that doesn't need to come near my wedding.
