Combination ceremony/reception seating

Private User, on August 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

My wedding is going to be in an airplane hangar in May 2016. Since we are in AZ and it may be hot we have decided to have everyone seated at their reception tables to watch the ceremony. We are using the table our venue provides which are the rectangular 8'X3' so we are thinking it will be banquet style. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this work? keep in mind we wont have a stage.

I'm doing the same thing. I'm doing two rows of 4 tables since we'll only have 8 tables and making and "aisle" for me to walk down. I'm walking in from the back and we'll have our front gates covered in flowers and that's where we'll get married. we'll have to put a sign at the front that tells guests to go around the back if they're late and the ceremony has already started.

I like Brenda's idea of having the tables set up into rows for the ceremony. Are you doing a cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception? If so, you could have the cocktail hour in a different part of the venue (maybe put a partition up the cut the hangar into sections), then see if the venue staff would be willing to re-configure the seating during the cocktail hour. That way, the layout will look different for the reception even though it is still the same space.

I love the idea of having the tables in rows and walking down the center. We are having a fairly large wedding we are inviting 250 and expecting 200. The venue has just one big room however that big room will have 3 or 4 airplanes it limiting our space which is why we don't really have the option to do ceremony and reception separately if we want to keep the whole thing at one location, which we do.
