Colors to go with USMC dress blues

Ugh I hate when people wear their uniforms for weddings, it's just so cliché. But is your FH a NCO or higher? Does he have the blood stripe?

Yes, he does. I know! I love him in his uniform but it's really making it hard! I wanted burgundy and blush and gray suits...not even close lol

@summer that's a really rude thing to say. People earn their uniforms and should be able to wear them when they please without judgement.

I am going through the exact same thing. I am 99.99% sure I am going with black because the swatch matched the top perfectly. I wanted dark navy and it clashes too much. Then I thought gold and no one liked it. And burgundy was my other color and it clashes also with the bright red. And i think red more than anything makes it look more like the 4th of July. From your options I would do the royal blue!

I agree. He deserves to wear it for sure! Just can't make up my mind about the color scheme. I think red normally looks great with it but I also really like the pale yellow.

OP- unless it flat out clashes- pick whatever you want- the odds that anyone notices is nil- and you don't want it to be totally matchy matchy- that isn't a good look.

@sarah I can say what I please since I earned my right to wear dress blues myself, yes I am a Marine. @Hollie if he has a blood stripe I would go with red since it will connect with that. The yellow isn't a key color so that not make entire sense to most people. The blue is also night but in reality dress blues are black so it might clash with the uniform.

Alexandra I completely agree! I don't want that red for my bridesmaids. I wanted a wine color but wasn't sure if it would clash. The blue is so hard to match. I really like more of a navy blue. And I like the yellow but it matches the little touches. I just wonder if it'll look like too much is going on.

@Hollie I ordered a few swatches from azazie for $2 each and the first one is free and just put them next to the uniform. It made it way easier! I wouldn't have tried to match the uniform so much if some of the groomsmen weren't wearing it. So I have some groomsmen plus the groom in uniform and some without uniform. It has been a nightmare to coordinate lol

If your getting married in September then a different shades of red will also look really nice.

I honestly don't think there's much you can do to make colors clash with dress uniforms. I think the soft yellow looks very nice. Dress uniform aside, I'm not really a fan of stark red as a wedding color. I'm not sure why, but I just don't. I think wine would look fine!

My FH and 2 of his groomsmen are army officers and it took me forever to decide on a color scheme that I thought would look nice with their uniforms. Finally decided on champagne bridesmaid dresses like these pictured.

I love the red color, have you thought of black? Would that match at all? I like the red and navy dresses for sure though yellow seems more rustic though, blue and red dresses don't seem rustic to me. It's going to be beautiful! I love it when people wear their uniforms, it just looks SO good!!!
