Colors: Tiffany Blue and....?

Ashleigh, on January 17, 2013 at 3:01 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 42

Hi WeddingWire world! It's been so long since I've been on here, I don't know how I was able to survive! (HAHA!) Alas, I'm not here about my wedding-which was amazing btw!-but I'm here on behalf of my Future SIL. My brother is marrying an amazing girl and she has asked me to be the unofficial wedding planner. I'm turning to you ladies for some advice about their wedding colors. She's dead set on Tiffany Blue (and has already purchased some items in the color) however, she's finding it difficult to find Bridesmaids dresses in that color. Any ideas?

It would help to know where her wedding was taking place... outside, inside, what season

Actually, while I'm on the subject, do you ladies have any ideas of other colors she can pair with the Tiffany blue? They're located in TX, so they're having a rustic wedding in a barn. I was thinking tan (including burlap into the details here and there) and cream. Thoughts?

Ceremony will be outside and the reception will be inside. Those of you who are familiar with the Houston area, they're getting married at Amber Springs.

A light yellow could be really pretty. I also like your idea of cream and tan/burlap though!

I believe if she wants tiffany blue dresses it is going to be difficult to find because the color is trademarked. However, she could find something similar to it just a bit different. Otherwise you are going to need an accent color. Look for aqua dresses, that might help you find something similar. Most people seem to use white as an accent color so that is not going to work... Usually silver is a good accent (reminiscent of tiffany & co.) what about silver?

Another combination I see often is Tifanny Blue and brown. I was originally going to have a beach wedding, and I chose Tiffany Blue and Coral which is beautiful together. This would be nice because they wont match the blue table linens too. :-) Another possibility is Tiffany Blue and Peach, sounds weird but they both have a retro feel and peach will not overpower the blue.

If she really really wants blue dresses though there are plenty that are similar ust not exact, try searching for aqua instead, maybe that would help.

Red gets my vote...maybe add in some yellow. We are having a barn wedding and those 3 colors were our 2nd choice

Thanks ladies!! I think she's starting to find out the hard way that, because the color is trademarked, she's not going to get the EXACT color. I really like the idea of either gold or silver as well. I'll be honest, she was gung ho for the blue and chocolate brown. Now, personally, between you ladies and myself, I think that color combo is a a little dated. However, if that's what she decides, it's their wedding not mine-I'm only the help!! But I'm trying to give some guidance and I think doing gold, silver or cream might look a little more classic and not so contrasting. Never though of peach though!! I might have to throw that suggestion out to her.

We had navy for our wedding, and I sometimes had a hard time finding matching navy's, so this will be an interesting experience!

This website gives some designers closest colors to the Tiffany blue. Very helpful!!

and here is my gold/tiffany blue idea:

It's not rustic feeling in these pictures, but it gets the color combo across.

Perhaps another color with tiffany blue sashes, shoes, jewelry or other embellishments? Something neutral like ivory, silver, black, or brown, depending on theme and season? It's kind of suprising to me that Tiffany blue would be so hard to find, considering how many wedding products I find in that same color!

    Welcome back!!!!

Tiffany blue/aqua/turquoise... what ever you want to call it, it will be VERY difficult to get everything in the EXACT same shade. As long as she understands that and is ok with it, then perfect.

Also... there really are no Tiffany blue flowers naturally in nature. Ask her what her favorite flower is or favorite color to try to decide on a 2nd color.

    ~ congrats

Thanks so much RayRay, I'm definitely going to have to forward those links off to her. The last picture (on the second link) it gorgeous. Simple with the white tapers, but so romantic.

Miranda, I agree, it's very strange! I thought for sure it would be a simple color to match, boy were we wrong! I think she can pull this off, but she's definitely in "panic mode" right now. I've been there, I can definitely relate!

If she does brown... does she want brown flowers? or add an accent color for the bouquets?

You could do a very light pink bouquet with the tiffany blue dresses and gold accents. Flowers are so difficult, they really don't have a lot of different colors that, IMO, don't start looking like a cartoon.
